Information About

Michigan State Highway 13 Connector

The freeway was opened in 1961 as the north end of a new US 23 freeway around Bay City. The freeway was extended north in 1967 . MDOT wanted to designate the orphaned piece, as well as former US 23 north of the freeway, as Alternate US 23, but AASHTO declined and M-13 was extended north on the surface section, with the freeway becoming M-13 Connector.

MDOT internally calls the road "Connector 14", as the 14th connector in sequence.
