Klien developed a series of new choreographic methods and procedures (including non-linear choreography and distributed choreography) and has been a central figure in the development of choreography as an autonomous Aesthetic discipline, the main focus of his work. He has been co-founder of the enigmatic Barriedale Operahouse in London , the web's leading Web Forum Choreograph.net, and the Framemakers (-choreography as an aesthetics of change) project´- a series of events dedicated to choreography as a Pattern Language . Together with individual artists such as Nicholas Mortimore, Davide Terlingo, William Forsythe, Steve Valk and Jeffrey Gormley his name is also associated with the development of 'social choroegraphy'.
