Information About

Michael Drosnin

Michael Drosnin (born 1944 ) is a controversial American journalist and author, best known for his research on the Bible Code .

Drosnin was born in New York City . He worked as a journalist for the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal . He wrote his first book, "Citizen Hughes", a biography of the American billionaire Howard Hughes , which was published in 1985. Drosnin first began researching the Bible Code in 1992 after meeting the mathematician Eliyahu Rips in Israel . Drosnin was not a religious person at this time and was at first very skeptical about the Bible Code , but became convinced that it was important in 1994 when he claimed to find a code relating to the future assassination of Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin in the Bible. Drosnin warned Rabin, and became even more convinced of the ability of the code to predict the future when Rabin was in fact assassinated in 1995 . In 1997 Drosnin published his most famous book, The Bible Code (book) , which asserted that the Bible Code might predict the future, but also actual events can be affected by our actions. It also asserts that many famous assassinations, past and future, were foretold in the Bible, and that the code can now be more easily interpreted through computer programs. The book also implies that a higher power wrote the Bible, and that the code contains predictions of disaster and Apocalypse for the time between 1998 and 2006 . Drosnin wrote a second book about bible prophecy in 2002 .

Drosnin has been criticized by many, including some who believe that the Bible Code is real but that it cannot predict the future. Many critics accuse him of factual errors, falsely claiming that he has much support in the scientific community, mistranslating Hebrew words to make his point more convincing, and using the Bible without proving that other books do not have similar codes. Drosnin challenged his critics to find a code similar to the Bible Code in the notable novel Moby Dick . Several Internet websites have claimed that codes can in fact be found in Moby Dick which could be used to claim that the book foretells several notable assassinations, and Drosnin has not responded to these claims.
