The current Mercury Monterey Minivan is the Mercury variant of the 2004 Ford Freestar . It fills the gap in the Mercury lineup left after the cancellation of the Mercury Villager in 2002 . Sales of the Monterey minivan have been exceptionally poor. It is likely that the model will be dropped by 2008 .

The Mercury Monterey has a Ford-produced 201 hp 4.2 L V6 that has the most torque in the minivan class. It comes in 3 trim levels: Convenience, Luxury, and Premier. Unique features of the Monterey include available heated/cooled front seats, power sliding doors, a DVD player, a stowable and tailgating 3rd row seat, and more.
