Canadian Movie centered around the sport of
Curling .
In the movie, Chris Cutter (played by
Paul Gross ) is the skip of a recently reunited curling team from a small Canadian town. The offbeat
Comedy follows the team as they work through their respective life issues and struggle to win the championship for the sake of their late coach.
The cast also includes
Connor Price ,
Leslie Nielsen ,
Peter Outerbridge ,
Kari Matchett ,
Molly Parker and
Polly Shannon . The Canadian rock band
The Tragically Hip also make a cameo appearance in the film as a competing rink.
Much of the movie was filmed in
Brampton ; see
Brampton Fall Fair . Some outdoor scenes were filmed in
Greater Sudbury .
This is believed to be the first feature film ever made focusing on the sport of curling. While the portrayal of curling itself is fairly accurate, the film, like most sports films, takes some liberties for the sake of excitement. The climactic final curling shot, in particular, serves its cinematic purpose but is not even remotely possible.
