The village was founded in the 1860s where two Railways , both of which later became part of the Canadian Pacific Railway , crossed each other. McAdam thus became an important railway junction, and a large, imposing railway station was constructed with hotel accomodations on the second floor. The building, now abandoned, is a National Historic Site . |
