''This article is intended to include the minor characters from all the games in one place, rather than having to clog up the main article pages or have many separate character pages for each series. All separate character pages (cruft) or groups of character pages should redirect here.'' This is a list of all the minor characters from all the games in the Fire Emblem Video Game series. They are not necessarily playable characters. The alternate names in parentheses are from the book ''Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu: TREASURE.''
FIRE EMBLEM
::A knight of Caelin. He is accompanied by '''Sain''' to the '''Sacae Plains''' to find '''Lord Hausen's''' granddaughter, '''Lyndis'''. He has Kain's colors and Abel's stats, making him accurate and durable, but not very strong. He allows for no error during battle, each of his rules often broken by his companion, '''Sain'''. If you get an A support with either Lyn or Fiora, he'll end up marrying one of them.
::Kent's boon companion. He is a bit of a scoundrel and a notorious womanizer, who admits to hitting on every single woman he has ever seen, ever. He has Abel's colors and Kain's stats, making him quite strong, but not very accurate.
::A Pegasus knight from Ilia with a timid heart and a dreadful fear of men and bows. That fear lessens between Lyn's story and Eliwood's or Hector's story, and through an A support she can potentially either marry Hector (therefore becoming Lilina's mother) or become Lyn's best partner. She is a childhood friend of Lyn's and has two older sisters, Fiora and Farina. She is considered an Est archetypical character, albeit appearing early in the game. Though she is very lucky and has a high speed statistic, her strength and defense statistics are somewhat weak compared to her sisters.
:: A cheerful archer from Pherae and a childhood friend of Rebecca (he can even marry her and be the father of her child, Wolt, if they get an A support). He and Rebecca's brother, Dan, set out to seek their fortunes but were separated. He then joins "Lyndis' Legions," as he calls it, and becomes a retainer of House Caelin. Though his strength and endurance are more solid than Rebecca's, he is much slower and not as generally useful.
:: An axefighter from Bern, who worked for bandits in order to get money for his wife's medicine. He joins Lyn's army in order to repay her for saving his wife, Natalie. He later moves to Pherae with his wife. Though he is strong and accurate, he lacks speed and dodging ability, which is only worsened by his mediocre defense and magical resistance.
:: An outspoken, beautiful young cleric in service to House Ostia. She is flirtatious and thinks highly of herself as a way of masking the loneliness felt in childhood as an orphan. However, she is very annoying, and drives everyone in Ostia crazy with her loud and arrogant personality. She is the Rena of ''Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword''; she's very lucky, quick and resistant to magic, but her magic power is erratic (it can either be very powerful or very weak) and she is also fragile physically.
:: A charming and uptight anima mage from Etruria, who escorts first Serra to Ostia (and, by the time he meets Lyn, is regretting it) and then serves as Priscilla's protector. Extremely dedicated to his studies and the student of Pent. Erk is well balanced, but is outclassed by a well-developed Nino. His greatest shortcoming is his poor luck statistic, as well as his low physical durability (although this is common amongst spellcasters).
:: A nomad of Sacae's Kutolah tribe. He is a man of few words and is skilled with the bow. He saves Lyn from an assassin when she reaches Araphen. He is the son of Dayan and father of Sue, characters from ''Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword'' (and Lyn can be Sue's mother, potentially, if she and Rath get an A support). Due to a vision by the Kutolah's elder, Rath was cast out from his tribe at an extremely young age to find his destiny. Due to this he is very quiet and unemotional, unused to social interaction. Rath is fast, strong and accurate, and is a potent addition to any army.
:: An enigmatic thief revealed as a spy for House Ostia. He is somewhat loyal to Hector on his own and hides his abilities under a cheerful and casual demeanor. He was romantically involved with a female Ostian spy called Leila, before she was killed by Jaffar. He is the Julian of ''Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword''. He is one of the fastest characters in the game, but all of his other statistics are somewhat low (especially strength), but occasionally excels in all stats (possibly a trend for Rekka no Ken's characters). Also, among Blazing Sword's characters, he has one of the highest critical scores.
:: A mysterious fluteplayer accompanied by his older sister, the dancer Ninian. He is reluctant to trust others, but remains kind to his comrades. Nils shares his statistics with Ninian.
:: A girly-looking monk (in fact, he's mistaken several times for a woman in the canon storyline) and a user of light magic. He was a retainer of Caelin's House Cornwell and remains loyal to Raven, his lord since childhood. Gentle and serene in nature, he appears to suffer from spiritual illness. Though powerful, fast, and nearly immune to conventional magic, he is extremely vulnerable to physical blows, due to low luck, defense and HP statistics.
:: A retired knight of Caelin who decides to side with Lyn to regain the Caelin throne. Trained Kent and Sain and seems to have the same intentions for Wil. Has no sense of direction whatsoever. He thrives in battle, and is extremely brash and stubborn. Due to him being required to promote early, he is seldomly used by more experienced players.
:: A knight of Pherae, loyal to Eliwood and a skilled veteran. He is like a father figure to Eliwood. He is the most controversial playable character of the game, since he's is unjustly derided by Fire Emblem midbies. He is the Jeigan of ''Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword'' and also ''Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals'', and he declines in strength between the former and the latter.
::Marcus' assistant and a recent Pheraen Knight recruit. Seeming to have an obsession with food, he is the party's cook. Lowen is very zealous, but not overly skilled; however, his pathological determination makes him very hard to kill. This is explained since he comes from a very poor village and had to take care of his grandfather and father until their deaths and his enrolement in the Pheraean army. Lowen's statistics are average, coming in between Sain and Kent in terms of accuracy and attack power; he is, however, more physically durable than either of the two.
:: The daughter of village chieftain in Pherae and childhood friend of Wil. She is tomboyish, helpful, bright and enjoys cooking. She is searching as to the whereabouts of her brother Dan. She is the mother of Wolt in ''Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword'' (the father can be, potentially, either Sain, Lowen, or Wil). Rebecca is incredibly fast, lucky, accurate, and deals significant damage. Though not physically durable, she is often so fast that it is nearly impossible to land a blow on her. She is one of the most used characters in the game.
:: A friend of Dorcas, best described as dense and can only understand fighting. Later, he marries his rival Karla. He is the father of Fir in ''Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword''. Due to his very poor starting speed, he is often hard to raise properly. When raised, he is often faster than Dorcas, but slightly weaker and not as accurate.
:: An experienced knight of Ostia, assigned by Lord Uther to protect Hector after he runs away from Ostia. He is rather serious but is looking out in Hector's best interests. He is of the Doga archetype; Though extremely tough, and often very powerful he is also sluggish, and weak to magical attacks.
:: A member of Sacae's Kutolah tribe, though he does not know Rath, who left when Guy was a child. Unlike most of the Kutolah, he is not skilled in archery and instead finds his talent in sword fighting. He frets about starving to death, which in the past lead to dealings with Matthew and working for mercenaries. He dreams about becoming a master swordsman. He is the Nabarl of ''Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword''. Guy is very agile, and has a surprisingly high hit point statistic, but can be rather weak strength-wise though this is greatly out weighed by his disturbingly high critical rate (easily reaching up into the 50s-60s).
:: A kindhearted, yet always troubled and easily-depressed troubadour adopted by Count Caerleon of Etruria. She is the beautiful younger sister of Raven and a princess of the fallen House Cornwell. She is magically powerful, agile, lucky, and accurate; her physical durability, however, is very low, and she has one of the poorest hit point statistics in the game.
:: A hard-eyed mercenary with a grudge against House Ostia. He was once Lord Raymond of Cornwell, a house destroyed by Ostia for corruption. He is aloof and joins Eliwood's army in hopes of getting closer to Hector (brother of Marquess Ostia) for revenge, but later gives up on this purpose. He is accompanied by his vassal and only friend, Lucius (they're often portrayed as more than best friends in fanwork). He is the Oguma of ''Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword.'' Raven is fast and accurate, and can be invariably strong, but has poor defense and luck statistics. This is somewhat compensated for by a high hit point count.
::The only shaman in the game, he is on a quest to gain knowledge. He is also rumored to be Nino's uncle (according to their A support, his wife's deceased sister was Nino's mother). A passionate scholar who has a tendency to read on the battlefield. The father of Hugh and son of Niime, characters from ''Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword''. His statistic caps are very high, but his only mediocre growths as well as his VERY poor speed do not allow him to reach those caps easily (if at all).
:: An amnesiac pirate loyal to Fargus' pirates. He is foulmouthed, but kindhearted. He is probably Rebecca's brother, Dan. If so, he left their hometown with his friend, Wil, to find their fortune. After they parted ways, Dan was somehow left unconscious and amnesiac on the docks of Badon, where Fargus picked him up. Dart is very strong and very fast, and has a very high hit point statistic, but is very inaccurate. His inaccuracy is often overlooked, however, due to the power and frequency of his strikes and his shockingly high britical rate.
:: Florina's oldest sister and the commander of the 5th Wing of Ilia's Pegasus Knights. She has been known to make deplorable decisions based on intuition. She was hired to scout the Dread Isle by Pent. After her entire wing was annihilated by the Black Fang, she wants to avenge the deaths of her comrades, and thinks that it was her fault. Most often compared to and paired with Kent, a cavalier with nearly equal standards of living. Fiora is more solid than Florina, and has a higher magical resistance than either of her two sisters. She is, however, not as lucky as either, and not as fast as Florina. Fiora may also be the most skilled, although usually outclassed by Farina in terms of attack. She can potentially end paired up with eliwood (due A support) and become Roy's mother.
:: A thief and former member of the Black Fang, known as the Hurricane. He is cynical, brutally honest and apathetic. While in the Fang, his duty was to kill those who betrayed the secretive organization, but he became disillusioned later on after his last victim turned out to be his former best friend Aisha, eventually abandoning the organization entirely. He is friends with much of the Fang, including Lloyd, Linus, Brendan, Uhai, and Jan. Nino refers to him as her "uncle", but this is a term of endearment; he is not a blood relative of hers. Can be thought of as a secondary Julian, though he comes rather late. His statistics are more balanced than Matthew's; however, because of his average growth, he often times ends up less useful than the above-mentioned "erratic Matthew." Still, he tends to be a better dodger, as he will also max Speed, but gains better Luck than Matthew.
::A beautiful dancer and the older sister of Nils, a teenage bard. They both hold a terrible and destructive secret in their hearts. Their dances or music enable allies to move again or increase their stats, and though they can't fight both she and Nils have high luck, making them VERY hard to hit with any kind of attacks. If she gets an A support with Eliwood, she'll marry him and become the mother of Roy.
:: A paladin of Pherae who serves Eliwood's mother, Eleanora. She is in love with Harken, one of the Knights of Pherae who left with Elbert, Eliwood's father, and constantly worries for his safety (or even if he is still alive and well at all). She also has some ethic and self-esteem problems derivated form her noble raising and her experiences as a female knight. She is similar to a Jeigan archetype, but unlike a Jeigan does not appear early as a playable character. She is faster than the other caveliers and paladins, but has poor strength and durability, and is easily slowed down by heavier weapons.
:: A proud wyvern rider of Bern, honorable with a strong sense of justice. He defects to Eliwood's side after he has had enough of Eubans' mercenary squad, who ordered him to kill women and children, something that compromised his personal honour. He once served Vaida as a wyvern rider, and his former wingmates are now dead because of their desertion from Bern. Heath is well-balanced, having good strength, hit points, and defense, as well as a suitable accuracy. As a wyvern rider, however, he is slow and VERY easily harmed by magic attacks.
:: The defender of the Nabata desert, an associate of Athos. He is the father of the sniper Igrene in ''Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword'' and is close friends with Pent and Louise. Though he starts off suitably, he is easily outclassed by Dart.
:: The disillusioned son of the leader of a merchant guild. He is somewhat flippant and is an acquaintance of Dart's. He literally has no idea what he is trying to do in life, and joins up with Eliwoods force as something to do. He is the brother of Geese from ''Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals''. He is seldomly used due to his mediocre statistics and only average growth rate.
:: The only student of the archsage Athos and the legendary Mage-General of Etruria, one of the three finest fighters in the entire country. He is Count of Reglay and Erk's teacher. An avid scholar like Canas. He and Louise, his wife, are the parents of Klein and Clarine of ''Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals''. Pent starts off quite powerfully, but has poor growths and is outclassed by Nino, or even by Erk. Still, he has well-balanced stats, and is one of the better prepromotes.
:: The beautiful wife of Pent and the Countess Reglay, she is also a distant cousin of Queen Helene of Bern. She is somewhat childlike in nature, but she can be overprotective at times. Before Pent chose her as his wife, she was a village commoner; she gained his admiration by vowing to protect him with her bow, with which she possesses deadly skill. She is the mother of Klein and Clarine of ''Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals''. Like her husband, Louise starts off suitably, but is easily outdone by Rebecca or Wil.
:: A bloodthirsty swordmaster from Sacae who appears to be insane. He lives only to find challengers worthy of his blade and kills without remorse or hesitation. He trains Guy and is the brother of Karla, but finds it difficult to restrain himself from killing either of them after a while. He finds peace after the journey, and is also a god-like character in ''Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals''. In ''Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword'', he has moderate statistics, but can be outdone by Guy.
:: Betrayed by his former Marquess, Harken became a hero in service of Lord Elbert, and the last surviving of his knights. After the attack on his group, he decides to take revenge on the Black Fang by infiltrating their ranks and destroying them from within. His madness is only matched by his love for Isadora, who he promised to marry once the war was over and he returned. However, Nergal wiped out most of the Pheraen Knights, driving Harken insane because he was powerless to defend Elbert, so he forgot his promise to Isadora. When the two reunite, he is calmed down greatly by her presence and gradually regains his sanity and will to live. Harken is quite powerful and the better Hero in terms of defensive stats, but Raven tends to be better overall.
:: Florina and Fiora's sister, a member of the 3rd Wing of Ilia's Pegasus Knights. Somewhat thoughtless and seems to only care only about money at first, but can also be very protective of her friends and hasn't forgotten a certain debt that one of her sisters acquired because of her. She will only join your party if you give her 20,000G, and will only join on Hector's Route (through A supports, she can be romantically linked to Hector himself or to Dart). She is, however, probably the most powerful Pegasus knight, being stronger and more solid than her sisters (although slower). Some players consider Farina to be of the Est archetype.
:: A naturally talented young mage who sees the Reed brothers and Brendan as her family. Innocent and selfless. She is the mother of Lugh and Rei of ''Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals'' (the father can either be Jaffar or Erk). She believes herself to be the child of Sonia, making Brendan her step-father, and Lloyd and Linus step-brothers. All three of these men care for Nino and watch over her. However, in reality, she is the child of a family of mages killed by Sonia and Nergal to gain their secrets. Nergal, seeing great magical potential in her, demanded Sonia raise her as a daughter; Sonia resents this, and treats Nino with much coldness and cruelty, while Nino only desires her 'Mothers' love. Nino is a true Est archetype character, having superb growth rates, and the greatest potential of the mages. All of her statistics (sans defense and hit points) have high growths, and usually end up maxing out. Overall she is considered by many to be the ultimate magic-user in Rekka no Ken (Blazing Sword).
:: Jaffar was an orphan discovered by Nergal as a baby on top of a pile of corpses. He was trained to attain surgical perfection with his blades. He became one of the Four Fangs, the Angel of Death. He discovered his heart when he sees Nino's selfless and innocent nature. Before that, he killed without thought or remorse... but when Sonia ordered him to kill Nino, he couldn't bring himself to do so. According to Legault, this makes him incredibly weak in the psychological sense. He is the first character to have the class of 'Assassin' in the Fire Emblem franchise. Jaffar's growth rates are very poor, to the point of being non-existent, but he is already very powerful when he joins.
:: A brutal wyvern general of Bern, who ends up deserting after a disastrous attack on Eliwood's army. She sacrificed her honor in order to help Heath escape from Bern, and utlimately ended up with the Black Fang. She is brash and vulgar, and thinks very highly of herself and her skills. She is also extremely loyal to Prince Zephiel, and will do anything to protect him. Vaida starts off with good statistics, but is often neglected because of her poor growths making her inferior to Heath.
:: The distant and cool natured sister of Karel. The famed Princess of Swords fights in arenas in hopes of finding her brother. She later marries Bartre and is the mother of Fir from ''Fire Emblem: Sealed Sword'', but dies of illness few before Sealed Sword takes place. Karla is not very powerful, and usually not worth developing. Players mostly use her only for her very well-done supports.
:: A bishop seeking to atone for his sins in the past on Dread Isle. Solving the puzzle of his past is quite difficult, and requires several play-thoughs, and the ability to put the scattered clues of his past life in each of his supports together to make the story. When all is said and done, his past is very interesting... he used to be a member of the Caelin army (he even helped Wallace when he was a mere squire), but later went mad after the loss of his best friend and became a blood-thirsty mercenary (one of his victims was Lucius' father, whom he killed in front of a child Lucius). Later, he associated himself with Nergal and became his assistant in the process of morph development, but ultimately saw the error of his ways and abandoned his master to join the St. Elimine clergy and become one of its bishops. Renault's statistics are very poor, and because he has few levels to develop, he is often set aside by Fire Emblem players.
:: One of the Legendary Eight who defeated the dragons in the Scouring. He was a close friend of Nergal's once and now resides in isolation in the Nabata Desert. His weapon during the Scouring was the Legendary fire tome Forblaze. At the last level, he brings to the party the Legendary Light Magic Aureola, wielded by the cleric St. Elimine herself; the Legendary Sword Durandal, wielded by the hero, Roland; the Legendary Thunder Axe Armads, wielded by the berserker, Durban; and finally, the Sol Katti, the partner of the Mani Katti (and not a legendary weapon, though very close to the level of Durandal and Armads). Athos is of the Gato archetype, starting with high statistics, but being unable to gain any levels. Athos is powerful offensively, but is somewhat frail due to his old age, and not very fast. Other Important Characters
:: A very powerful, heartless man who seeks power so he can control the dragons and rule the world. Nergal used to be a companion of Athos, but after studying ancient dragon magic, he turned his back on his friend and became evil. Nergal received a horrible face wound in an insuing battle with Athos, and remains his archenemy to this very day. Nergal seeks the power of Quintessence, which he gets from murdering people with high levels of a special kind of energy. The quintessence makes him very strong, and he is able to create morphs and heal his wounds with it. Nergal's two assistants that he created are his morphs Ephidel and Limstella. Along with them, Nergal commands the Black Fang. Nergal seeks to capture Nils and Ninian so he can open the Dragon's Gate.
::Ephidel is a powerful morph commanded by Nergal to do his deeds. Ephidel was key in starting the rebellion in Lycia, corrupting Marquesses Pherae, Santaruz, and Laus, and others into creating unrest so that Nergal could take it over. This plan fails due to Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn's interference with it, and Ephidel ultimately returns to the Dread Isle to help Nergal directly, but is killed during the failed dragon summon. Ephidel, like all morphs, has golden eyes, and also has a black cloak.
::The most powerful of Nergal's morphs. Limstella's main job is to collect the quintessence of people for Nergal by murdering many of the important characters of the game, even many of the Black Fang members. Limstella will sacrifice everything for Nergal, even her life, and in fact her body becoems corrupted by her own power. Like all of Nergal's morphs, Limstella has golden eyes and blood red lips.
::A female sage in service of Nergal. Sonia has taken control of the Black Fang on Nergal's behalf by marrying Brendan Reed and reducing him to her puppet, therefore Brendan's sons thoroughly disdain her but are forced to obey the orders she gives through Brendan. Sonia tells the Four Fangs to kill Eliwood, while she corrupts King Desmond of Bern. Sonia is vain and spiteful, and cares little for her 'daughter', Nino. Sonia honestly believes that she is a real human being chosen by Nergal, however her appearance and the actions of Limstella suggest that she is actually a Morph as well.
::The leader of the Black Fang, and the father of Lloyd and Linus Reed. Brendan is a man of honor, but he is quite blind to the corruption in the Black Fang that Sonia, his wife, is bringing about in the Black Fang.
::The Mad Dog of the Four Fangs, son of Brendan, younger brother of Lloyd. Linus is the "Rabid Hound" of the Four Fangs, and is untrusting of Sonia and her corruption in the Black Fang. Linus is immensely strong and extremely brave, but not as intelligent as his elder brother.
::The White Wolf of the Four Fangs, Brendan Reed's firstborn, and older brother of Linus. He chose to become a Swordmaster and is the "White Wolf" of the Four Fangs of the once chivalrous Black Fang. His brother is Linus, a Hero . Lloyd and his brother have doubts about the corruption in the Black Fang and Sonia, but are willing to follow them to the bitter end. Lloyd fights with a Light Brand, a magic sword that uses magic to attack at range.
::Uhai is a Sacaen nomad who has been with the Black Fang since their earliest days. He is known as the "Soaring Hawk", and uses bows and blades in combat. Uhai is an honourable combatant, refusing to take hostages in battle (in fact, he kidnaps Lyn and later releases her to mark his own words and beliefs). He follows Nergal simply because he realizes resistance is futile, but before his death decides that Eliwood and company may have a chance, and aids them by giving them hints about the Dragon's Gate. Uhai is good friends with Lloyd and Linus.
::A foolish and spiteful man, Darin, the Marquess of Laus, is lured in by promises made by Ephidel that he would become the ruler of the World with the Black Fang's help, if he lead a rebellion in Lycia. He and his army is responsible for much of the events in the early game. He is the father of Erik and is obsessed with Priscilla.
::The king of the militaristic nation of Bern, Desmond is jealous of his wife's son, Zephiel, and wants his daughter, Guinivere, to take the throne. Desmond is lured by Sonia to start rebellion against Lycia, and to steal the Fire Emblem for the Black Fang so that Zephiel cannot become King. Years later, he's killed in a strange incident, and Zephiel takes his place.
::The heir to the Bern throne, and the son of Queen Hellene. Zephiel is a very gifted child, and it is obvious that he will become a fine ruler of Bern. But his father, King Desmond, is spiteful of the child, and tries to stop him from taking the throne. Zephiel and his sister, Guinivere, love each other dearly, but Desmond also wants to bring an end to their contact. During the game, Zephiel is almost murdered by Jaffar, but Nino disuades Jaffar and Zephiel is ultimately rescued by Eliwood form Ursula. Zephiel is the ruler of Bern in Fire Emblem 6, and is one of the main enemies.
::The Queen of Bern, and the mother of Zephiel. Hellene does not have a good relationship with King Desmond, and wishes to see her son, Prince Zephiel, take the throne of Bern. Hellene is a good friend of Louise, whom she knows since they were very young, and as a sort of prize for saving Zephiel's life, gives Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn the secret location of Bern's Shrine of Seals, as well as Hector's Heaven Seal.
::Lundgren is the brother of Lord Hausen, the Marquess of Caelin. Lundgren is evil, spiteful, and wants to become the Marquess. To do this, he slowly poisons the current Marquess, as he is the only known heir to the throne. His plan is almost complete, when Lyn (also an heir, with higher precedence than Lundgren since she's the daughter of Madelyn, Hausen's daughter) and her followers come to stop Lundgren and his devious plot.
::The Blue Crow of the Four Fangs. Ursula may have used to have been kind in nature, but her trusting personality and loyalty has allowed Sonia to easily bend her to her will. She is rather cold blooded and extremely logical. Ursula is Sonia's trusted vassal, and proves a formidable foe. Ursula is also very jealous of Vaida, whom she sees as a pwer-hungry newcomer, and is even willing to help the enemy (by giving them the Hammerne staff) if it'll allow her to keep her place as Sonia's right-hand.
::A former member of the Four Fangs. The "Death Kite" of the Fangs, Jerme was the top assassin until Jaffar came along, taking his place amongst the Four Fangs. Jerme is a total psycho, and loves to kill and slice his enemies. He is extremely ruthless and loyal to Nergal for no reason other than the opportunity to murder. He also harbors a deep resentment and jealousy of Jaffar.
::The Shrike of the Black Fang, Kenneth is a renegade Bishop who guards their mountain stronghold. Kenneth has abandoned his faith, believing gods are all lies, bar his lord Nergal, the closest to omnipotence in existence. This somewhat twisted faith allows him to wield holy magic. Kenneth is devoted to Nergal, and by extension, Sonia.
::Hector's brother, and Marquess Ostia. Uther has recently been named Marquess Ostia, commander of the most powerful nation in the Lycian League, and also the head of the Lycian Council. He is more cool headed than his reckless brother, whom he practically raised since their parents died, and despite his cold facade he wants him to be safe. Uther has been getting paler lately, and Hector is concerned about this; it turns out that he's has tisis, and he dies few after the events of the Blazing Sword game.
::The father of Eliwood, and Marquess Pherae. Elbert vanished from Pherae along with many Pheraen Knights. His disappearance sets off Eliwood on his quest to find him, and later, to save the world. Elbert loves his son Eliwood and his wife Elenora very much, and remained resistant to Nergal until the very end, helping Ninian and Nils to keep their faith in humanity.
::A friend of Lord Elbert, and Marquess Santaruz. Helman at first supports the rebellion, but later has a change of heart, and wants the Black Fang to be gone from Santaruz. He is kind towards his people, but is a somewhat ineffectual leader. He is soon fatally injured by Ephidel, and dies in Eliwood's arms.
::The grandfather of Lyn, and Marquess Caelin. Hausen is poisoned by Lundgren, his brother, in an attempt for him to take over Caelin. Lyn saves her grandfather's life, and for a year they spend time together. Hausen is later stabbed by Ephidel when he is trying to stop Darin from his acts of war. Again, Lyn, along with Hector and Eliwood, save Caelin from invaders. Many years before the events in the game, his beloved daughter Madelyn eloped to marry the Sacaen nomad leader Hassar, and Hausen was so blinded with rage that he disowned her, but had a change of heart after receiving a letter of Madelyn and sent Kent and Sain to retireve Lyn... few before Lundgren starts poisoning him.
::The son of Lord Darin. Erik despises Eliwood and Hector, his ex-classmates, and is in charge of the Laus army when Darin goes to Caelin. It is from him that Eliwood and Hector learn some dark secrets about Darin's plot, a mysterious hooded man, and Lord Elbert's connection with the Lycia rebellion. Erik survives the game to reappear in FE6 (chronologically after FE7), where he once again turns traitor.
::The captain of the pirate ship ''Darvos''. Fargus shows kindness towards Eliwood's group, and lets them journey to the Dread Isle, Valor, on his ship. Fargus seeks adventure in life, and because of that he gives them passage. Fargus also brings them to Valor a second time after Eliwood's campaign in Bern. If you choose to accept the sidequest in Chapter Sixteen, reaching him is the objective. If you attack him, he proves an overpowered foe, with near maxed out stats and an axe that takes advantage of his high critical rate.
::Merlinus is a character that appears frequently, whose tent has to be protected from enemies. As a merchant, Merlinus holds your armory optionally during each battle. As he levels up each chapter you keep him alive, he can eventually upgrade to a moving unit. He cannot fight, though, and either his tent or his vehicle must be protected. He first appears in Chapter 13 Gaiden of Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken. Merlinus eventually reappears in ''Fire Emblem: Sword of Seals'', performing the same role, albeit with greater difficulty.
::A young commander of Renais. He's calm, composed, and skilled. He is also known as the Silver Knight, and is idolized by those under his command. In a support conversation with Franz, he mentions that he was a squire under Franz's father. He is the Jeigan of the game.
::An armored knight of Frelia. He's quiet, yet dependable. A friend of Syrene, he appears to harbor mild feelings for her. He is the Doga of the game.
::An earnest and determined young cavalier from Renais. Franz is the younger brother of Forde, and both siblings seek to emulate their father, a great knight who died in Renais' service.
::A mature priest of Frelia, Moulder is gentle and reassuring. Well trusted by the king, he is sent to aid Eirika.
::Sincere, honest, and honorable, she is one of Frelia's Pegasus knights. She is Syrene's sister, and harbours a crush on her Prince, Innes.
::A young villager from Ide, son of Garcia. A rather wild and impetuous youth, he seeks to emulate his warrior father by becoming a great fighter.
::A villager from Renais. He was once a mighty military leader, but retired from the army when his wife died, in order to raise his son, Ross. He returned to service when the village was destroyed and Ross joined up.
::A young girl from Renais, a childhood friend of Colm. She is something of a crybaby, but is also a great shot with excellent senses. She was trained by her grandfather, a legendary archer.

::A wandering swordsman from Jehanna with a fervor for gambling. He is revealed to be the Prince of Jehanna, who disappeared about ten years prior to the beginning of the story, abandoning both his mother and his title so he could better learn about his people's needs and become worthy of the crown in his own eyes. During this time he worked with Caellach in a mercenary troop, and appears to have earned a penchant for stirring up trouble off the job. Joshua is the Nabarl of the game. He is the first Nabarl to receive a holy weapon and the second Nabarl to be of royal heritage.
::Kyle is an intensely loyal, intelligent young knight. He is very devoted to Ephraim, and is a fierce rival of Forde. Very chivalrous and proper, Kyle is a classic knight. He is the Abel of the game.
::Forde's skill in battle is only matched by his remarkable laziness - he is known to sleep through large portions of battles, though he claims this a merely a ploy to lure foes into range. He is the brother of Franz, and is a rather accomplished painter in his spare time. He is the Kain of the game.
::The princess of Frelia and sister of Innes, she joined the army in order to accompany her friends and brother to war. She is cheery, sociable, a little airheaded, and appears to harbor a crush on Ephraim.
::An orphan from a small Grado village, Amelia is a young girl inexperienced in combat. However, she learns quickly, and her honest, determined nature prove useful. In a support conversation with Dussel, her mother is still alive.
::The prince of Frelia, he is famed for his immense skill with the bow. Innes is extremely brash and proud, and harbours an intense rivalry with Ephraim. At heart, however, he is good and just.

::Another member of Gerik's group, Tethys is the sister of Ewan. She is a beautiful, charming dancer, and also is a native of Jehanna.
::Marisa is aloof and detached, but is also a master of the blade, known as the Crimson Flash for her great speed. She is a member of Gerik's group, and is also from Jehenna. She seeks to surpass her father, also a great swordmaster. She is somewhat clumsy in all things not connected to fighting.
::The Princess of Rausten, Niece of Mansel, its Pontifex and lord. She fights for justice and order, to emulate her parents who died doing the same. She is totally self-obsessed and egotistical.
::A middle aged man, Dozla is a hearty berserker of Rausten with an enormous thirst for life. He is full of energy, and lives to serve L'Arachel.
::Grandson of the Chief Elder of Caer Pelyn, Saleh is an accomplished magic user. He is solemn and intellectual, but is quite generous. He is teaching Ewan magic.
::Saleh's student, he is also the younger brother of Tethys and part of Gerik's troop. Ewan is a mage-in-training with much potential, according to Saleh. He is quick-witted and excitable.
::The brother of Glen, an imperial general, Cormag is actually rather gentle, conscientious man. However, in battle he is extremely ferocious and powerful fighter.
::Rennac is the son of a merchant from Carcino. He is lazy, greedy and uncaring, but is also an excellent fighter. He was hired by L'Arachel as an escort, though he constantly laments that, despite her wealth, she never actually feels the need to pay him.
::One of the imperial generals of Grado, Duessel is a courageous, popular general. His emperor named him the Obsidian, but he harbours doubts about Grado's war. He is the former lance instructor of Ephraim.
::One of Grado's royal mages, Knoll aided Lyon in his research into the Dark Stone. Knoll is very intellectual, but is made secretive by the troubling knowledge he holds.
::Sister of Vanessa, Syrene is a famous Pegasus knight. She is the commander of their third battalion, renowned for her beauty, skill, and courage.
::The "Great Dragon" from the Darkling Woods in Caer Pelyn. She disguises herself as a girl to find the great evil that plagued the lands. The niece of Morva. In combat she is considered to be the strongest characer, all of her attacks being very effective against monsters and she generally takes them out in one hit. In the Japanese version, the player can get lucky and she could take the final boss down with one hit. This was fixed in later versions. She is useless without the Dragonstone, yet it turns into her true form when used in battle. Secret Characters These characters can only be unlocked in Creature Campaign, which is available upon completion of the game. These characters are unlocked after completing certain floors of the Tower of Valni and Lagdou Ruins. To unlock Selena and Lyon, you must complete the Tower of Valni and Lagdou Ruins three times respectively.
::A Paladin of Renais. He's a devoted husband and a serene and quiet man, who betrayed Renais for a chance to bring his deceased wife, Monica, back to life.
::An ambitious general in Grado's army, who hails from Jehenna. The axe-wielding mercenary is better known as Tiger Eye. His goal is to become nothing less than a king, and will stop at nothing to achieve that goal. Caellach used to work with Joshua before joining Grado's army in order to pursue his dream.

::A general in Grado's army, both in the past and the present. A sadistic warrior who wields a lance with unsurpassed skill and strength. During his past career as a Grado general, the then normal Emperor Vigarde fired him for slaughtering innocents - but when Vigarde changed, Valter was re-hired. This cruel man is also known as Moonstone. Later, he kills Glen. According to a support conversation of Cormag and Duessel, Valter used to be an only somewhat more decent man until he fought with a dark lance owned by Duessel which made him into the man he is now.
::A general in Grado's army. Originally of peasent stock he and his brother, Cormag, have both risen high in the ranks of Grado's Wyvern riders. He loathes Valter for his ruthlessness, while Valter hates Glen for his moralizing. Glen is better known as Sunstone. He had briefly met Erika before the war began and was killed by Valter after letting Eirika pass through Carcino's mountains.
::The king of Frelia. He's a good friend to both Eirika and Ephraim. Father of Prince Innes and Princess Tana.
::The crown prince of Grado who has fallen under the control of the Demon King. Son of Emperor Virgarde. See Also: Lyon (Fire Emblem) The Greil Mercenaries
:The deputy commander of the Greil Mercenaries, Titania is the first female paladin that falls under the Jeigan archetype and an ex-Crimean knight. While in training for her knighthood, she studied for a time in Gallia, where she first met Greil, as well as Ike and Mist when they were still small children. The tragedy of Greil's death hits her hard, but she keeps her public emotions in check, save for an outburst of anguish and impatience when Ike revealed that he knew the identity of Greil's killer. She is also normally at philosphically opposite ends with Soren in moral debates, taking an idealistic approach over Soren's more realistic view. :Titania is among the most dependable members of the Greil Mercenaries. She's personable, kind, and shares a deep bond with the other members of the company. She is always ready to provide Ike with advice on running the mercenary company, and constantly keeps an eye on Boyd to make sure that he's training properly. However, she will also take time out for personal matters. For instance, at a time that she feels Mist is overworking herself, she convinces her to join her on a visit to town, and the two go shopping for new clothes. :As the first paladin the player has access to, Titania begins the game with the ability to use both axes and lances. Like other ''Fire Emblem'' Jeigans, she has incredibly strong stats when compared to the other friendly and enemy units in the early missions and also serves as a good choice for an early frontline defense.
:The young staff officer of the Greil Mercenaries. In debates with other members of the company, he frequently takes viewpoints that benefit the mercenaries first and the clients second. At one point early on, he advocates turning Elincia over to the Daein army as a means to ensure the company's survival. Although such suggestions and his generally brooding disposition lead others to have a critical view of his philosophies, Soren always speaks with honesty and only says what he does in the best interest of the few people he cares about. He is a remarkably intelligent young man, and his opinion, while often negative, is always sought out by Greil and later Ike after he takes command. :Soren is thought by some to be a spirit charmer, one who has made a special pact with the supernatural, due to a distinctive mark on his forehead. However, Soren is actually one of the branded, or beorc-laguz hybrids generally despised by both races. It is a fact that he keeps secret from everyone, but due to the fact that members of the branded age at the extremely slow rate of the laguz, it is unlikely that he could keep the secret for many more years before others begin to catch on. Stefan, recognizing Soren for what he is, attempts to convince Soren to join him in a colony of branded that exists in the desert of Begnion. Soren refuses, citing his loyalty to Ike, but Stefan leaves the invitation open. :Soren led a horrific early childhood; his earliest memories are of a woman bemoaning the fact that she has been stuck with the task of taking care of him. For a few years, he was raised by an aging sage who wished to pass on his magical talent before his death, most likely under the mistaken belief that Soren was a spirit charmer, and thus capable of commanding magic beyond the power of normal beorc. After the sage died, Soren was once again left alone, never having been taught how to speak, and was on the verge of starvation when a young Ike convinced Greil to take him in. For this act of kindness, Soren considers Ike to be his closest friend, and voluntarily reveals to him that he is in fact a branded. :In terms of abilities, Soren is well-versed as a mage, having greater overall stats than the other mages. Though he starts at level 1, developing him is rewarding, resulting in high speed, skill, resistance, and magical power. He is, however, vulnerable physically, but this is common for a spellcaster.
:The "Abel" of ''Path of Radiance'''s "Kain & Abel" archetype, Oscar is a level-headed and friendly former Crimean knight that begins the game as lance knight. He used the money he earned to help Boyd take care of their much younger brother, Rolf, but after leaving the knighthood, the brothers struggled to survive until Oscar and Boyd were granted the opportunity to join the Greil Mercenaries. Because of the generosity and care that Greil and Titania had shown the brothers, Oscar is one of the most loyal members of the company. His stat growths make him one of the best mounted units in the long haul and is a good early choice to level to his class change.
:The middle brother of Oscar and Rolf, Boyd is a bullheaded member of the fighter class that likes to slack off on his training. He shares a friendly rivalry with Ike, but his lack of tact and typically poor choice of words in conversations usually lead to more trouble than he asks for. A prime example of this comes when he attempts to give Titania a present and expresses his feelings for her, but makes the mistake of first suggesting that she's like a very kind mother, and when Titania gruffly asks Boyd how old he thinks she is, he hesitates, only to ask if she's younger than his mother. :Boyd is the only Fighter Class unit available to the player, and is well worth using. His strength statistic is unparallelled, and is complemented by a high speed, skill, and HP count. His defense and resistance, though, are average at best, but his high endurance easily compensates for this.
:The first healer available to the player, Rhys is particularly useful in the earlier parts of the game until Mist joins the party. He joined the mercenaries about a year prior to the beginning of the game after finding Titania severely injured in a forest near his home and nursing her back to health. However, Rhys himself is physically a very frail man, and is occasionally bedridden with fevers brought on from overwork. Prior to joining the mercenaries, he stayed at home with his parents and couldn't find work because of his weak constitution. As a result, he sends the pay he receives from the mercenaries back home in order to help his parents. A common joke in the game is that he is so unsuited for combat that he doesn't know which end of a sword to hold. His stats allow for good healing, after his class change, he becomes the only player character with the ability to cast light magic spells.
:Shinon is, in essence, a jerk. He constantly treats Ike like a foolish child and finds the idea of Greil's son serving as his commander insufferable. Furthermore, he drinks and is blatantly racist, frequently calling all laguz "sub-humans." He wishes to live a more comfortable life, and feels that the Greil Mercenaries would do better to search out more lucrative employment than scaring bandits away from Crimean villages. Ultimately, he leaves the party after chapter eight, following the news that Ike would succeed Greil as leader of the mercenaries. He doesn't reappear until much later, when he is employed by the Daein army to help stop Ike's forces from advancing across the Daein border. He rejoins the company, grudgingly, under the persuasion of his student Rolf, but only after he is forced to admit that Ike has indeed become stronger than him.
:An armored knight that considers himself a ladies man, Gatrie is gullible, but more than willing to help any woman that needs assistance (especially if said woman is attractive). A friend of Shinon's, he leaves the mercenaries following Greil's death as well, but he eventually takes on a job as bodyguard for the Begnion noble Astrid. While on a Begnion vessel that is under attack by pirates (actually a crew of disguised Daein soldiers), he reunites with Ike, who assists the Begnion ship with reinforcements from Nasir's vessel. After the battle, Gatrie elects to rejoin the mercenaries.
:Oscar and Boyd's kid brother and Mist's best friend, he secretly learned how to use a bow from Shinon. Rolf tries to be brave and fights hard, but he's still a child at heart and will cry when his feelings are hurt. Although he starts off weak at Level 1, he has the potential to become an excellent force to have on the battlefield, particularly in maps against many flying units. Along with Shinon, he's also one of the only two playable characters capable of using ballistas. Compared to Shinon, however, Rolf is much more capable, since he has more time to develop.
:Sister of Ike, Mist is a gentle girl who keeps a medallion that once belonged to her mother with her at all times. Unbeknownst to her, the medallion is actually Lehran's Medallion; the Fire Emblem. Disliking constantly being left behind when her brother enters the battlefield, she eventually forces her way into the mercenary company's ranks by use of her skills with a healing staff. Mist is one of only a few beorc with a spirit gentle enough to keep the medallion's chaotic energies in check when held in her grasp. Other playable humans
:A cheeky myrmidon, Mia was rescued from Daein forces by Greil, and in return she volunteers her services to the Greil Mercenaries. She's always very high spirited, and even when Ike declares that her debt to the mercenaries is repaid and that she should no longer feel obligated to work for them, she insists on staying on with the Greil Mercenaries because she feels Ike is a great boss to work for. Mia is very skilled with swords and constantly trains herself while searching for her true archrival in order to have a duel at dawn. However, there doesn't appear to be any real depth to her motivation; she just loves dueling at dawn. She often resorts to activities such as seeking the advice of fortune-tellers in order to find her one true rival. Consequently, the search for her archrival often takes on absurd qualities, such as the time she mistakes the frail priest Rhys for her rival and challenges him to a duel, only to learn that he barely knows which end of a sword to hold, and that he would rather act as an unmobile target. :Like other members of her class, Mia is fast and can deliver an above average number of critical hits, but her starting stats make her weak and cause her to fold easily. She is much better in terms of defense than Zihark, though, due to her high speed and luck statistics.
:Ilyana is a mage that joins the mercenaries with good ability in casting lightning magic. She had been traveling with a merchant caravan, but when the Daein invasion occurred, they became separated, and she was forced into helping them fight the mercenaries. When she meets Ike during battle, she learns that the mercenaries are guarding the caravan, and is allowed to join them to fight off the Daein soldiers. :Ilyana has an unusually voracious metabolism that leaves her hungry no matter how much she eats, and she can be on the verge of collapse due to hunger even after consuming a large meal. Due to her thin, frail appearance, others try to help her out by cooking meals for her and donating money so that she can eat heartily, only to be completely baffled by how such a small frame could pack away an entire banquet's worth of food and still crave more. Because of her weak body, Ilyana is constantly worried that she'll be left behind by the other mercenaries and forgotten. In terms of ability, she's about on even ground with Soren, and so she makes an equally good magic user to have on the battlefield.
:A Pegasus Knight of Begnion, Marcia joins Ike's mercenaries while on a journey to locate her brother, Makalov. Her departure from the pegasus knights was sudden, and came after one too many debt collectors began hounding the barracks in search of money that Makalov owed. Although she delivered a notice stating her resignation, Tanith considers her departure a desertion. Her stats start her off rather weak, but she can become a competent fighter over time. She has a generally chipper personality, frequently referring to Ike as "Handsome" and using the names of foodstuffs as expletives.
:Initially, Volke approaches Ike's company as an old associate of Greil, saying that he has an important intelligence report to give them. However, he refuses to deliver this report until Ike can gather together 50,000 gold as a fee. As it turns out, both the report and Volke's claim that he is a thief are a ruse. Volke is actually an assassin, who was hired by Greil many years ago after being driven berserk by Lehran's Medallion. Volke's job was to constantly tail Greil and kill him should he ever lose his mind again. Volke was also entrusted with passing the history of the medallion on to Ike. :Volke is a highly secretive individual, who refuses to even eat meals with the company unless he is paid to do so. He has some prior association with the sage Bastian, who at first mistrusts his motives, but later is interested in hiring him for some work after the war. Volke can open doors and chests without keys, as well as stealing items and unequipped weapons from enemies, but he will charge the player fifty gold each time he provides this service. Volke is similar to a knife-wielding myrmidion statwise. After his class change to assassin, Volke can gain a skill called Lethality which gives him a chance of instantly killing his opponents, making him a great fighter in the late game.
:The Kain to Oscar's Abel, Kieran is an overly-enthusiastic member of the Crimean knights, and holds a long-standing, very one-sided rivalry with Oscar. Oscar at one point notes that it's hard to believe that Kieran is actually a skilled knight due to the pompous zeal and exaggerated emotion that he constantly projects everywhere he goes. He also has a tendency to overtrain, leading to various self-inflicted injuries. At the time Daein invaded Crimea, Kieran was assigned to the regiment charged with protecting and escorting Elincia, but was captured and placed in the same prison as Nephenee, Brom and Sephiran. :Kieran has a skill called Gamble that allows him to attack for more damage, but at a reduced rate of accuracy that makes its usefulness questionable.
:A country girl with a thick accent, Nephenee prefers not to speak very much in order to hide the way she talks from others, and always wears a helmet to cover herself. The only people that she's especially comfortable around are Brom, a fellow Crimean from the countryside, and Calill, who offers Nephenee lessons on how to be more cultured. She is utterly terrified of Devdan. Nephenee is the oldest daughter of a large family, but left them behind in order to defend her Crimean homeland from the Daein invasion. Her combination of power, defense and good speed allow her to be one of the best frontline fighters. Her class change, Halberdier, makes her even more potent.
:A farmer and a father of many children, Brom belonged to the same militia unit as Nephenee before they were captured by Daein soldiers. He carries a small bag of stones with him as a good luck charm, and will often speak to the stones as though they were his family members in order to comfort himself and find courage to fight. A family man first and foremost, he continues fighting despite his lack of confidence so that his family will be safe. Brom has enough growth potential that some players prefer to use him as their primary knight instead of Gatrie.
:Zihark once shared a romantic relationship with a laguz, but that relationship was broken up by circumstances that remain unclear. He joins a group of laguz-hunting vigilantes in Crimea with the sole purpose of helping Ike and his laguz companions make their escape to sea. His stats give him the potential to become one of the best myrmidon/swordmasters in the game. :He's got more offensive but less defensive potential than Mia.
:A young boy from Daein that stowed away on Nasir's ship as it carried the mercenaries towards Begnion, he is on a journey to find someone. Sothe cannot change classes; in compensation, he has the skill Blossom, which gives him greater stat bonuses at the cost of needing greater than average experience in order to level. Because of the difficulty in leveling him and his lack of a second class, Sothe's usefulness is limited to his ability to unlock chests and doors without Volke's charge of 50 gold pieces per lock.
:The daughter of a Daein officer, Jill was raised from an early age to despise laguz. She longs to prove herself as a soldier to make her father proud, but after assisting Ike in fighting off some Kilvas crow pirates, she inadvertantly accompanies the mercenaries on their journey to Begnion. During the journey, she learns that laguz aren't inherently evil, and begins to question the beliefs she grew up with. She eventually comes to the conclusion that Daein is wrong and the cause of the Crimeans is the righteous one. From that moment forward, her stay with Ike and the Crimean army stops being accidental and starts being voluntary. It is interesting to note that, as Jill starts doubting herself and her beliefs, she turns to Lethe (who is very open about her violent dislike of beorc) for answers. :What Jill doesn't know at first is that her father Shiharam and the rest of his wyvern rider unit were actually once Begnion soldiers that shared no particular hatred for the laguz. Following an undisclosed incident, the unit elected to defect to Daein in protest of the corrupt Begnion senate, and attempted to adapt to the new culture as best as they could. Jill, raised in Daein from earliest childhood, or perhaps birth, came to hold a hatred of the laguz that her father secretly never shared, and a fervor for the Daein army that he could never match. :Depending on actions taken by the player, Jill may either stay with the mercenaries through the end of the game, or she may rejoin her father in Chapter 20 and become an enemy once more (this is dependent on if Jill has a Support level of B with anyone, or if she takes part in the battle at all).
:A Begnion noble that entered the knighthood in order to carve her own path in life. She is very kind and giving to those in need, but her purity also lends her a childlike naivety that prevents her from seeing when she's being swindled. During their support conversations together, she gives Makalov a family heirloom, believing that he'll pawn it off in order to use the money wisely, when in fact he plans to simply gamble the donation away. He eventually returns the heirloom to her, feeling rotten for taking advantage of her charitability. Astrid joins the mercenaries at Level 1, but she has the skill Paragon, which allows her to level up at an accelerated rate. Because of the speed of her growth and her skill with the bow as her default weapon, she quickly becomes one of the best mounted units in the game. She is a perfect example of the Fire Emblem Est archetype.
:Marcia's wimpish weasel of a brother, Makalov's tendency to gamble, heavy debts, and association with shady figures such as pirates and slave traders brings him into deep trouble with his creditors until his sister finds him and forces him to join the Greil Mercenaries. The company then repays all of his debts, forcing him into long-term service. Absurdly enough, despite being an utter scoundral, he gains the romantic interest of Astrid (a practical saint) during their support conversations together.
:Stefan is one of the "branded", beorc-laguz hybrids that appear to be human but have the longer lifespans of the laguz. A rather eccentric fellow, he meets Ike's laguz companions Lethe and Mordecai during a desert battle in Chapter 15 and invites himself into the mercenary company. Compared to his fellow branded Soren, he bears even deeper grudges against society, though he hides them better. He hates his country Begnion, the laguz, and the goddess all equally. In joining the game as a leveled Swordmaster that comes equipped with an S-rank weapon, he quickly becomes an excellent character to have on the battlefield.
:A young boy that leads a laguz emancipation group based in a Begnion desert, Tormod wishes to free the laguz that remain enslaved by Begnion nobles. He is very close to the beast laguz Muarim, and treats him as family. He fancies himself a magical prodigy and dreams of becoming the most powerful mage ever, but in reality, he still has a great deal to learn about magic and its dangers. He takes lessons from Calill during their support conversations, and during these, he learns that all mages have inherent limits to their power. Calill also tells him about spirit charmers; mages that have made pacts with spirits in order to gain more power, but at a high cost. Discovering that his dreams of becoming the most powerful mage in the world are almost certainly out of his reach, he has no qualms in adjusting his goals to be more within his grasp. He joins the company with a high proficiency in Fire magic.
:An eccentric man that is fond of making other people happy, but is actually a very creepy individual. He had been forced to work at Oliver's villa without pay as punishment for trespassing before the mercenaries entered a battle with the guards. He refuses to fight children, and sides with Ike's company as a result. Devdan has a habit of referring to himself in the third person, and he works as a street performer when not on the battlefield. As a Halberdier, he is ultimately outclassed by Nephenee. Just don't make him upset.
:The deputy commander of Begnion's pegasus knights, Tanith is the hardlining disciplinarian in contrast to her superior Sigrun's gentle demeanor and treatment of the troops. She sees great potential in Marcia as a future officer in the pegasus knights, and it is in part because of that that she became enraged when Marcia submitted her hasty resignation. A stickler for duty, she attempts to fulfill her orders from the apostle that she serve as Reyson's bodyguard despite the heron prince's repeated protests. :Tanith grew up with the belief that when Begnion Wyvern Commander Shiharam Fizzart and his men left their posts in the Begnion military, they were heroes revolting against the corrupt Begnion senate. However, upon meeting Shiharam on the battlefield in Chapter 20, she realizes that her vision of them doesn't match reality and expresses her disappointment. :Tanith has one of the most useful skills in the game. Reinforce allows her to call up to four allied pegasus knights and two falcon knights for the player to command per battle, opening the way to create beneficial distractions to keep enemy units occupied. The experience earned by the reinforcements goes directly to the bonus experience poole.
:A powerful, but very vain sage. She comes to the Crimean encampment to request a job from the general. When she first meets Ike, she rambles on to him about her abilities and looks, and speaks frankly to him, thinking he is just another soldier. It is to her unfortunate surprise when she finds out Ike is indeed the general, who hires her based on the choice of the player. Although she does everything to keep the truth hidden, she was actually raised in the countryside; a fact that only came to light when Nephenee realized that Calill has small bits of country knowledge that no pure bred city girl would know. Calill comes equipped with her own Meteor tome, as well as the ability to wield knives.
:A Daein general who was an old friend of Ike's father. Tauroneo had always been loyal to the throne, but after Ashnard took the crown he began to resent the country he served. After discovering news of Greil's death and finding out Ike is the only living practitioner of Greil's sword fighting style, he surrenders to Ike and tells him he cannot allow Greil's legacy to be destroyed. He proves to be a very powerful general and is a natural tank, but is very slow as a result.
:A captain of the Daein army and Jill's superior before she defected. Years before, Haar was a part of a Begnion wyvern unit that defected to Daein along with Commander Shiharam. When not personally following his commander's orders, he chooses to doze off during battle and not really take things seriously. However, following Shiharam's death, he resolves to avenge him by destroying the Daein. He take Jill's offer to join the Greil Mercenaries during Chapter 23, effectively becoming her subordinate in the Crimean liberation force.
:A Crimean sage of noble blood, Bastian has an incredible ability to over dramatize any event. This is usually done with his Shakespearian manner of speech. Despite this flaw, he is incredibly loyal to his princess and his country, and is willing to give his life for them. However, he may also have a darker side. In his support conversations with Volke, he attempts to hire the assassin for an undisclosed but nonetheless shady sounding job. Volke refuses, citing his ongoing contract with Ike, but Bastian promises to come calling again once the terms of the contract have been fulfilled. He is one of the many potential sages in the game, but joins late and has no truly distinguishing qualities.
:A young knight who grew up with Princess Elincia; she is also Geoffrey's sister. She was one of the princess's many escorts until they were separated. Confident she was still alive, Lucia and others started gathering retainers to prepare for the day she returned. She joins the group late in the game, and is rather unremarkable when compared to others in her class.
:A paladin who has sworn complete loyalty to Princess Elincia, and one of the retainers who awaited for her return to Crimea. Geoffrey seems to be in love with the princess as can be seen in his various conversations with Bastian. Like Astrid, Geoffrey has the skill Paragon resulting in him being a very quick leveler and one of the better mounted units.
:A very humorous, but boastful man. His claimed exploits include pinning down two tigers at the same time, which Ike refers to as "dubious." He joins the army out of nowhere, searching for Calill. As pointed out by Muarim, Largo is one of the few beorc who treats everyone equally no matter what. Largo replies saying he's only "calling it how it is." His dream is to one day open up his own pub, and keeps careful notes in planning out the venture. Ironically, though being strong and calling himself a "world-class berserker", he tells Mia that he's actually a man of peace, and instead of dueling her he suggests a competition in knitting. Largo is the only beserker that can be recruited in the game, but suffers from rather poor stats. Playable laguz
:One of the first laguz characters to join the mercenaries on their journey, Lethe holds very little trust in beorc, and her tongue is as sharp as her claws. She's also quite intelligent, which makes her stance on beorc somewhat more ambivalent. She outright hates beorc because she knows how they enslaved the laguz for centuries, but she's also smart enough to realise that it's folly to refuse any kind of aid a beorc might give out of spite. :Lethe's first meeting with Ike does not go smoothly. After she and Mordecai save Ike's company from being crushed by a superior Daein force, she almost flies into a killing rage because of Soren's insults. Ike manages to defuse the situation, however, and Lethe escorts the group to Gallia's seat of power to meet King Caineghis. She then joins Ike's group by order of her king. Even though she resents this assignment at first, continued exposure to the idealistic beorc she travels with softens her a little. However, it is perhaps Jill who has the most impact on her. At first, Jill's obviously ignorant questions infuriate Lethe greatly. But when she sees Jill shedding her racist beliefs, Lethe too comes to believe that perhaps beorc and laguz can learn to live together. :Her stats and abilities emphasize speed over strength, and so while her attacks do less damage than the more powerful Laguz such as Mordecai, she can usually get two attacks per round against slower opponents.
:A gentle laguz warrior curious of beorc and their ways, Mordecai is functionally the opposite of Lethe. He speaks the beorc tongue with some difficulty, but is willing to study in order to communicate better with his allies. He also learns about the history of the branded from Stefan, and shows the same curious, non-threatening attitude toward him as he does beorc. His stats emphasize power over speed, making him slow but able to deal a considerable amount of damage with a single blow.
:A former laguz slave of a Begnion noble, Muarim is like a father figure to Tormod, but he still holds many of the habits he developed under his life of servitude. When he joins the mercenaries, he comes equipped with the Demi Band, an item that allows laguz to maintain their beast forms indefinitely at the cost of a reduction in statistics.
:The "ears" of the Hawk King, Ulki is one of Tibarn's most trusted soldiers. He has an acute sense of hearings which allows him to hear various things from several miles away. He bore a hatred for humans before he met Ike, but it was notably less severe than his brethren's. However, his distrust still remained. His partner in battle is Janaff.
:Janaff is nicknamed the eyes of the Hawk King, due to his highly developed sight. Just as Ulki can hear things from miles away, Janaff can see them at those extreme distances. Like his brethren, he had a strong distaste for humans, however this changes quickly after he meets Ike. Tibarn sends Janaff to aid Ike along with Ulki.
:The prince of the heron tribe, and one of the few herons that survived the Serenes Massacre. For the twenty years since, he has stayed in the residence of Tibarn, along with his ailing father, the heron king. He considered himself a good friend of Naesala, but is betrayed when the crow king tricks him, and is sold off to Oliver, who desires Reyson for his delicate beauty. He escapes following the Greil Mercenaries' invasion of Oliver's villa. :Initially, Reyson bears a hatred for all humans that stems from the destruction caused by the people of Begnion in the Serenes Massacre. After his escape, he enters the remains of the forest with the intention of finding the altar from which he can use a special song with the power to destroy his pursuers. However, during his search, he is found by Tibarn, Ulki, and Janaff, who persuade him not to be so rash. Later, Reyson witnesses Ike fight to save his sister Leanne from Oliver, and he begins to find it within himself to see that not all beorc are evil. Once Leanne awakens, he and his sister sing a song of rebirth that restores Serenes Forest to its former glory. Following Oliver's downfall, he accompanies Ike on the march into Daein. Although he's physically so weak that he can't punch anything without having several bones broken, his Chant skill allows him to grant an extra action to a unit each turn, and when he is in his heron form, he can give up to four units an extra turn, as well as healing all adjacent units at the beginning of each turn.
:A Gallian laguz who assists Ike many times throughout the game. He eventually joins the party late in the game, being the fourth of the beast laguz to do so. He is generally considered to be the most powerful of the four (excluding their king, Caineghis and his shadow warrior, Giffca), despite losing rather badly to the Black Knight. Unlike many laguz before meeting Ike, Ranulf consistently uses the term "beorc" and does not hate them so strongly. He is, however, distrustful of Ike in their first encounter.
:Initially, Ena is an enemy to Ike and company. She is introduced at the beginning of the game as a mysterious woman acting as a tactician for Petrine. As a tactician, she is level headed and realistic about situations, and of all the characters in the game, she has the greatest understanding of the true attitudes of King Ashnard. She is later promoted to general and battles Ike at the Daein capital. It is here that the player finds out Ena is a laguz of the dragon tribe, and that she is in fact Nasir's only granddaughter. She is almost killed by the Black Knight after her failure to stop Ike, but Ike saves her. :If Ike is unable to kill the Black Knight at the end of Chapter 27, Ena will join the mercenaries as a playable character. Her attack power is decent, but is all but canceled out by her atrociously small movement range.
:Hundreds of years old, Nasir is a laguz of the Goldoan dragons who went to great lengths to change his appearance and habits to seem more human. He is a ship captain by trade, and through his contacts with Ranulf, he arranges to escort Elincia and the mercenaries from Crimea to Begnion via his vessel. He assists the group a great deal, but later, as the mercenaries march their way through Daein, he steals Lehran's Medallion from Mist as she sleeps and is branded a traitor after he delivers it to Ena. However, it is later revealed that he only stole the medallion to protect Ena, who is his only granddaughter. Ike ultimately forgives him, and he joins the mercenaries as a playable characters after Chapter 27 if Ike kills the Black Knight. If Ike is unable to kill the Black Knight, Nasir will sacrifice himself by setting off explosions that bury the Black Knight in rubble. Compared to Ena, Nasir is much stronger.
:The king of Phoenicis, and nicknamed the Hawk King. Tibarn is one of the four laguz kings on the continent, and one of the two the player can recruit at the end of the game. Initially, he held a very deep resentment towards humanity in general and Begnion in particular and had already resolved to destroy them, starting with a campaign of piracy aimed at any and all Begnion vessels. However, Ike changes his perspective through his action of rescuing Leanne from Oliver, and Tibarn eventually provides direct assistance to Ike late in the war. As a fighter, Tibarn is extraordinarily strong. In the few levels in which he can be used he can almost take on the entire map by himself.
:The king of Kilvas, Naesala is first introduced as a villainous laguz of the ravens (or crows). To improve the fortunes of his country, he is willing to do whatever it takes, including betraying his oldest friend Reyson by selling him to Oliver. He also shares a business agreement with Daein and assists them in their operations, but when he discovers that Reyson escaped Olivers grasp and is working with Ike to stop Ashnard, he has a change of heart and breaks ties with Daein. Later on, he sneaks into a tower prison where Leanne is being held captive and frees her moments before the mercenaries attack. In the endgame, Naesala becomes one of the three possible laguz that can can aid the player in the final battle. He is the only character in the entire game who knows the skill Vortex, which allows him to cast wind magic regardless of what form he's in.
:A beast laguz with high ranking. King Caineghis describes him as his "shadow" and asks that he is paid no more mind than to the air itself. What exactly it is that Giffca does is hard to say, though many think he is either a body guard or advisor to the king. Giffca does not play a large role in the plot or game itself, as his first line is "..." but he does find Ranulf as he is escaping a port village in Crimea and aids him. He also aids the mercenaries in the final battle, taking the place of Caineghis on the battlefield. Major non-playable characters
:The commander of the Greil Mercenaries. Once the most feared of the four riders, Sir Gawain. For some reason his family protects Lehran's Medallion, even though they were never charged with it. Greil is an incredebly powerful warrior, and never talks about his past. He killed his wife, Elena, after touching Lehran's medallion, and he crippled himself so he could no longer use a sword. Presumebly he lost about 78% of his true strength, yet he was still stronger for some of even the strongest of men. Greil is killed by his former student, the Black Knight. He is the Father of Ike and Mist, and the only Hero of Fire Emblem Path of Radiance.
:The king of the nation of Daein, Ashnard wages war on Crimea in an effort to ignite a continent-wide conflict. His goal is to obtain Lehran's Medallion, the Fire Emblem, which holds the spirit of an evil god that thrives on chaotic energies. Although he obtains the medallion and makes numerous efforts to sow the seeds of war across Tellius, he is ultimately defeated at the end of the game despite being able to use the medallion to release the dark god.
:One of the Four Riders of Daein, and arguably the hardest enemy in the game. The Black Knight's identity is kept a secret, save for the fact that he was once a student of the former General Gawain. After killing Greil, he becomes Ike's mortal enemy, and he spends much of the game performing acts to enable Ashnard's efforts. His weapon and armor are blessed by the goddess, making him invulnerable to almost all but an equally blessed weapon. Of the Four Riders, the Black Knight is the strongest.
:One of the Four Riders of Daein, Petrine is a beautiful woman, but also a battle-hardened soldier. She has absolutely no tolerance for incompetence and cowardice; the only person that she fears is her liege, Ashnard. She is known for wielding a magical lance imbued with the power of fire. Petrine is the weakest of the Four Riders, but still one not to be taken lightly.
:A corpulent, egotistical bishop and senator of Begnion, Oliver secretly deals in the slave trade of laguz, as well as buying valuable items Naesala's crows steal from ships at sea. Upon seeing Reyson, he convinces Naesala to sell the heron prince to him for an enormous sum, thinking of him as a work of art. Although not explicitly stated, it may also be insinuated that Oliver also has a sexual infatuation with Reyson. Oliver's misdeeds are eventually uncovered by the Greil Mercenaries, and he meets his end in Serenes Forest when he tries to capture Leanne. Other non-playable characters
:One of the Four Riders of Daein, a mysterious general dispatched to stop Ike's advance to the Crimean capital in Chapter 26. Like the Black Knight, Bertram has never removed his armor and thus is appearance is a mystery. Unlike the other generals, he seems to have little intelligence as he is only able to mutter few words. He may have been suffering or under someone's control as when he finally meets Ike, he asks Ike to kill him. It is highly speculated that Bertram may be Lord Renning, Elincia's uncle. Bertram is the third strongest of the Four Riders.
:One of the Four Riders of Daein, dating back to the era of the previous Daein king. Bryce is a noble soldier and loyal to his nation; even after learning that Ashnard rose to power by killing everyone else that stood in line to ascend to the throne, he remains a Daein soldier to the end, and fights on the frontline during the final battle. Of the Four Riders, Bryce is probably the most honorable. Knowing only at the end of the game that he serves a mad king, he carries himself with dignity and grants Ike proper respect upon meeting him on the battlefield. Ike grants Bryce courtesy in return, bidding him farewell after defeating him in battle. Bryce is the second strongest of the Four Riders. :Beating the game ten times allows the player to use Bryce on the trial maps.
:Reyson's sister, she slept in the remains of Serenes Forest for twenty years before she was discovered by Ike and the Greil Mercenaries. Like all herons, she is frail and delicate, but her lack of contact with beorc prevents her from speaking anything but the ancient language of the heron tribe. After being left in King Tibarn's care, she is kidnapped by the Black Knight and locked in a tower filled with laguz driven mad through Daein experiments, but is eventually rescued by Naesala.
:Jill's father, and a former Begnion soldier. Eighteen years before the beginning of the game, he and his entire Wyvern unit defected from Begnion because they could no longer stomach working for the nation's corrupt senators. He led his men to Daein, where they became accepted into the nation's military and worked arduously to become accepted in their new homeland. Petrine orders him and his unit to flood Daein lands in an effort to slow Ike's forces down. Although he doesn't want to open the floodgate since doing so would damage land and crops owned by Daein commoners, he follows orders, but sends Haar away so that he may survive the battle. :Beating the game five times allows the player to use Shiharam on the trial maps.
:A young attendant of Tibarn's, who was charged with the care of Leanne while Tibarn was on a journey. He is somewhat clumsy in his work and has trouble communicating with his charge due to his limited understanding of the ancient heron tongue. He tries to make Leanne understand him by speaking louder, as though she were hard of hearing. Lotz is killed by the Black Knight when he comes to kidnap Leanne. Tibarn is quite fond of Lotz, and is very grieved at his death.
:The commander of Begnion's pegasus knights, Sigrun is a kind and considerate leader. She is first introduced when she and Deputy Commander Tanith board Nasir's ship to take Elincia to a meeting with the apostle. Her leanient attitude is the polar opposite of the harsh disciplinarian Tanith. This is most evident when it is revealed Sigrun made no objection to Marcia's decision to leave the pegasus knights to search for her brother, whereas Tanith feels that Marcia should be punished for going AWOL .
:Greil's deceased wife and mother of Ike and Mist. Once a resident of Daein along with her husband, she did her best to take care of Lillia, a heron laguz and Reyson's older sister, whom Ashnard had captured and imprisoned within a temple. Elena came to be a good friend of Lillia's, and although they shared no common tongue, Lillia was able to eventually give her both Lehran's Medallion and the song of release necessary to release the dark god within it. The ultimate goal was to return the medallion to Serenes Forest, but Elena and Greil spent several years on the run from Daein. For a time, they lived in Gallia, and it was there that she gave birth to her children. :Unfortunately, after Greil made the mistake of taking hold of the medallion and began going beserk, Elena became impaled on his sword while pulling it from his grasp. Forgiving him with her final words, she then died. :Elena physically only appears in the game twice. The first is in the game's opening cutscene, in which Ike dreams of a distant memory of her. The other is in a still image depicting her death, as Volke reveals what he knows about Ike's parents to him. SEE ALSO |
