Information AboutMass No. 17 (mozart) |
|
The mass was written as a result of a vow Mozart made with himself in relation to his wife Constanze and his father Leopold and their strained relationship. Though not quite complete (missing most of the Credo orchestration of which is incomplete and all of the '' Agnus Dei ''), the Mass was performed at St. Peter's in Salzburg on August 25, 1783. There is a good deal of speculation surrounding this unfinished work, as to why it was left unfinished, what exactly was the vow Mozart made, and how it was performed if it was not completed. The ''Kyrie'' is widely regarded as one of Mozart's most beautiful works, becoming more widely known through its use on the Soundtrack of the movie '' Amadeus ''. EXTERNAL LINKS |
