Maryland is a Town located in Otsego County, New York . As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,920. The Town of Maryland is on the county's south border. GEOGRAPHY The south town line is the border of Delaware County, New York . According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 134.3 Km&2 (51.9 Mi&2 ). 134.0 km&2 (51.8 mi&2) of it is land and 0.3 km&2 (0.1 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 0.21% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 1,920 people, 773 households, and 531 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 14.3/km&2 (37.1/mi&2). There were 1,035 housing units at an average density of 7.7/km&2 (20.0/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 98.80% White , 0.16% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.16% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.05% from Other Races , and 0.83% from two or more races. 1.09% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 773 households out of which 29.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.1% were Married Couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.93. In the town the population was spread out with 23.7% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.2 males. The median income for a household in the town was $33,821, and the median income for a family was $39,020. Males had a median income of $27,245 versus $20,898 for females.
