GEOGRAPHY Markleysburg is located at 39°44'14" North, 79°27'10" West (39.737178, -79.452646). According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 0.8 Km&2 (0.3 Mi&2 ). 0.8 km&2 (0.3 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 282 people, 90 households, and 68 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 375.5/km&2 (989.3/mi&2). There were 105 housing units at an average density of 139.8/km&2 (368.3/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.23% White , 1.77% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 90 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.4% were Married Couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.4% were non-families. 23.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.60 and the average family size was 3.10.
