Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point is an airfield located in Havelock , North Carolina , USA , in the eastern part of the state at . Its ICAO airport code is KNKT. It was built in 1941 , and was commissioned in 1942 as Cunningham Field, named in honor of United States Marine Corps aviator, Lt. Col. Alfred A. Cunningham, but was later renamed.

During World War II , the facility was used to train Marines for service in the Pacific Theater , and also served as a base for anti-submarine operations. Cherry Point also helped during the Vietnam War by deploying three A-6 Intruder squadrons to the Far East.

Cherry Point is the largest of the Marine Corps air stations. It is currently host to four EA-6B Prowler squadrons, six AV-8B Harrier squadrons, two KC-130 Hercules squadrons and one UAV squadron.
