Market Street runs the whole length of the town. The east west divider lies at what is referred to the S Bend.


GEOGRAPHY

Marietta is located at 40°3'26" North, 76°33'21" West (40.057169, -76.555955).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 1.9 Km&2 (0.8 Mi&2 ). 1.9 km&2 (0.8 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 2,689 people, 1,092 households, and 723 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 1,384.3/km&2 (3,587.0/mi&2). There were 1,168 housing units at an average density of 601.3/km&2 (1,558.1/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 95.83% White , 2.49% African American , 0.15% Native American , 0.15% Asian , 0.04% Pacific Islander , 0.52% from Other Races , and 0.82% from two or more races. 1.90% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 1,092 households out of which 32.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% were Married Couples living together, 10.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.7% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.46 and the average family size was 2.99.

In the borough the population was spread out with 24.8% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 34.3% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 99.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.7 males.

The median income for a household in the borough was $40,563, and the median income for a family was $46,905. Males had a median income of $33,783 versus $21,863 for females. The Per Capita Income for the borough was $19,265. 9.2% of the population and 6.7% of families were below the Poverty Line . 11.8% of those under the age of 18 and 11.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
