During his reign the Istari came to Middle-earth from Valinor , but at the time their origin was not known. Near the end of his reign it was revealed that the shadow that had fallen over Mirkwood came from Dol Guldur , but Sauron 's presence there remained unknown. Mallor died in 1110 T.A. and was succeeded by his son Celepharn .
