(マクノシタ '''Makunoshita''' in
Japan , and in both
France and
Germany ) is a
Fighting Pokémon from the
Pokémon series of games. It is listed as Pokémon #296 in the
National Pokédex , and #48 in the
Hoenn Pokédex .
Its name relates to a rank of sumo wrestling,
Makushita . It is speculated that the "s" in Makushita was dropped in order to avoid pronunciation mishaps when the pokémon was brought to America. It is also possible that the name was changed in order to remove the word "shit" from the pokémon's name.
Makuhita can be caught in the wild in
Pokémon Ruby And Sapphire ,
Pokémon Emerald , and also
Pokémon Colosseum . In
Pokemon XD , one could be snagged from
Cipher Peon Torkin.
Makuhita will never give up hope, and will tenaciously attack its foes no matter how many times it is knocked down. It stores energy to be used for future evolution. Like
Machop , Makuhita likes to build up its strength by training every day - if you hear huge rumbles while walking through a cave, it is probably a Makuhita out training.
Makuhita's appearance is inspired by the traditional Japanese
Sumo Wrestler , usually portrayed as short and very fat. Its hands look like boxing gloves, and it has red rings on its cheeks. It has a blue bib-like marking on its belly, and always has a bowtie head shape.
Makuhuta has been a used as a shadow pokemon twice in both pokemon colosseum and gale of darkness.
In colosseum, It's the first pokemon the player snags from Trudly at the mayor's house then later in Gale of darkness, it can be snaged again from one of the peons at the ONBS station at the 2ed floor
