Lord William Campbell




Because his wife was from South Carolina he had lobbied hard for this position. In 1775 he became the last British Governor of South Carolina. He was the nephew of the Duke Of Argyll . He became Governor of the Province of South Carolina On the outbread of the Revolution and was nearly successful in his attempts to keep the Colony loyal.

In 1776 , during the British attack upon Fort Moultrie , he received a wound while aboard Sir Peter Parker 's flagship, which afterward resulted in his death.
