Lockheed L-10 Electra




The Lockheed L-10 Electra was a twin-engine, all-metal monoplane developed by the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in the 1940s to compete with the the Douglas DC-2 and DC-3 . The prototype made its first flight on February 23 , 1934 .

Aviatrix Amelia Earhart disappeared in an Electra on an attempted around-the-world flight in 1937 .

Many Electras, and descendants of the design, were impressed into military during World War II (as the C-36 with the USAAF ). By the end of the war, the Electra design was obsolete.
