''Live Seeds'' is the first official live Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds album, including the never-studio-recorded "Plain Gold Ring", a cover of a Nina Simone song. It was recorded live during the touring stage after the release of '' Henry's Dream '' ( 1992 - 1993 ) and was intended to give the songs a raw feeling, as Nick Cave originally intended for that album before producing problems occurred. Edwin Hawkins' "Oh Happy Day" (an influence on Cave's "Deanna", John Lee Hooker 's "Tupelo" (an influence on Cave's "Tupelo") and Nina Simone 's "Plain Gold Ring" were all issued on '' Original Seeds '' Vol. 1 & 2.
