The following denotes the time periods of the respective ''GTA'' games:
SICILIAN/ITALIAN-AMERICAN GANGS The Leones
The Leone Mafia family is an Italian-American Mafia criminal organization, originating from Sicily - referred to by Salvatore Leone as "the old country"- whose main base of operations is in Liberty City. They hold various assets in Portland including Cipriani's Restaurante, Sex Club 7, and Joey's Car Repair Shop. The main base of operations however is Salvatore's Gentlemen's Club , which is in the northeast end of the Saint Mark's district. . Their henchmen don black suits; some with Sunglasses , and carry Shotguns , Uzi s, and Pistols . In San Andreas, Leone family hitmen carry AK-47 assault rifles. The Leone family were also active in . It is assumed that because of the great loss of money from the heist, Salvatore abandons his investments in Las Venturas, allowing the Sindaccos to retake the city. The Family is engaged in a war with the Sindacco family in ''Liberty City Stories'', winning and in the process taking over Paulie's Revenue Bar as well as the Red Light District and Hepburn Heights, destroying all influence they once had on the island. Three years later in ''GTA III'', the Leone family engage in a small subtle war with the now-weakened Forelli family, killing their boss, Mike "Lips" Forelli. In the same year the Leone's get in a full-scale war with the Liberty City Triads after certain businesses in Chinatown stop paying their protection money to the Leone family. The war is long and concludes in 3 of the Triad warlords being killed, as well as the Triad fish factory being destroyed in an explosion. Claude was seen working for the Leones in ''GTA III''; however, Don Salvatore Leone betrays Claude, ordering him to retrieve a car that has been secretly rigged with explosives. It was later revealed that Salvatore had grown paranoid of Claude, offering Claude's death as a deal to the Colombian Cartel. As a result, Claude assassinates Salvatore as a final gesture to the Leones, in exchange for strengthen ties with the Liberty City Yakuza. Following the death of Salvatore, it is assumed that either his son, Joey Leone, or his capo, Toni Cipriani, will become the new head of the Leone Crime Family. The Forellis
The Forelli Mafia family is an Italian-American Mafia family based in the Marco's Bistro in Liberty City. The head of the organization in 1986 is assumed to be in ''Vice City''. In ''San Andreas'', it was agreed that the Forellis owned a share of control on Caligula's Casino along with the Sindacco and Leone families in 1992. However, that would later end as an assassination was ordered by Salvatore Leone on a Forelli member at Marco's Bistro to strengthen the Leone's share of the casino. In ''Liberty City Stories'', Salvatore Leone mentions Franco Forelli as the boss of the Forelli family at the time, most likely taking the reigns after the death of Sonny Forelli in 1986. ''Liberty City Stories'' also reveals a Little Italy district in Fort Staunton that served as the base of the Forellis' operations. The entire district was destroyed by Toni Cipriani on orders from Salvatore Leone. In ''Liberty City Stories'', Forelli henchmen don blue/dark red polo shirts with light blue/white jackets over and carry pistols. By ''GTA III'', the family has seemed to have weaken considerably, with the killing of several Forelli members, including Mike "Lips" Forelli by Joey Leone. At this point in time, the Forelli's territory has been reduced to the Saint Mark's Bistro. The Sindaccos
The Sindacco Family had a stake in Caligula's Casino, alongside the Forellis and Leones. The Sindacco Family want to do business with the Leone's, and this involves Salvatore pledging 5 million (once working with the Forelli's down in Vice City) was put forward as a neutral party. Ken was in the middle of the three mob families, so if one attacked the other, Ken will most likely be the target. The Sindacco Family were formerly represented by Johnny Sindacco, who would die from a heart failure in ''San Andreas'' after meeting Carl Johnson for a second time. It was revealed that Johnny had previously been captured by the San Fierro Triads, tied onto a car driven by Carl and was scared into revealing information; he then went into a coma, suffering a period of psychological trauma. From 1992 to 1998, Paulie Sindacco controlled the family and expanded Sindacco control in Las Venturas as well as using profit from the casinos in Las Venturas to expand in Liberty City, moving into Leone turf in Chinatown, dealing drugs. In ''Liberty City Stories'', on orders from Salvatore Leone, Toni Cipriani used J.D. O'Toole, who was running Paulie's Revenue Bar in Liberty City's Red Light district for the Sindaccos, as an inside-man to help weaken the Sindaccos and claim the Red Light District and Paulie's Revenue Bar (renamed Sex Club 7 by the Leones) as Leone Family territory. Later on, Toni Cipriani would kill Paulie Sindacco, the head of the Sindaccos in 1998. Their henchmen don black shirts and brown leather jackets with/without sunglasses and carry pistols. After their defeat by the Leone family, the Sindacco family left Portland for Staunton Island, moving into Forelli territory. This resulted in a new war between the Sindaccos and the Forellis, and Paulie Sindacco attempted to establish a truce between the Forellis and Sindaccos, possibly to defeat the Leones together. Before a truce could be created, however, Toni Cipriani uses a remote control device to assume control of Paulie Sindacco's car and run over dozens of Forelli members with it, additionally fueling the Sindacco war with the Forelli family, which doesn't end until the assassination of Paulie Sindacco in Shoreside Vale later that same year. With no turf or front companies remaining in Liberty City, The Sindaccos have very little influence (if any at all) remaining in Liberty City by ''GTA III'', although it is assumed that the Sindacco family are still prominent in Las Venturas after 1998. Vercetti gang/crime ring
The Vercetti gang, or the Vercetti crime ring, is an underworld outfit that specializes in drug dealing and "protection" services. The gang is headed by Tommy Vercetti, a renegade Forelli Mafia member who is believed to have assumed control of several businesses and property in Vice City, circa 1986. While the game stats refer to the organization as the "Vercetti gang", the name "Vercetti crime ring" is used in the game's strategy guide, and best describes the organization's involvement in various illegal enterprises, including both Extortion and organized crime. It is unknown whether or not Vercetti is actually a leader of a Cosa Nostra Family, because although all of Vercetti’s henchmen are Italian Americans who speak with Mafia slang, many of his previous lieutenants were from other nationalities. Tommy Vercetti was originally dispatched by the Forellis to Vice City to oversee a drug deal funded by Forelli money. After the deal was ambushed by . Following the killing, he seized property and assets in the city with little assistance from the Forellis, forming the Vercetti Crime Ring in the process. The expansion of the crime ring led the Forellis to head to Vice City and attempt to cut into the profits of Vercetti's organization and intimidate the gang. The Forellis' efforts were thwarted, and Sonny Forelli would eventually confront Vercetti in person, leading to a bloodbath and death of many Forelli members, including Sonny, in a Vercetti-owned mansion. Unusually, none of the Vercetti gang members other than close associates had assisted Vercetti in defending the organization from the Forellis, signifying that the members were largely of little use in the storyline. However, their absence can be largely attributed to the fact that Lance was tasked to get the men together but instead betrayed the Vercetti gang to Sonny. Upon full completion of ''Vice City'', Vercetti's gang members are armed with Uzis, previously Colt .45 handguns. The members wear blue shirts or yellow Hawaiian shirts, and long pants. Sicilian Mafia
In 1998, under the leadership of and Salvatore Leone's elderly uncle, Wayne, an unnamed Sicilian Mafia family sparked several wars between rival underworld outfits in Liberty City in the hope of controlling the city once the previous outfits destroyed each other. Their plan was foiled, however, when Salvatore Leone and his capo, Toni Cipriani, were able to hold their own against all of the other criminal organizations in the city. To retaliate, the Sicilians attempted to intimidate the mayor into convicting Leone on racketeering charges. This strategy was never fully executed due to the fact that Cipriani, under orders from Salvatore, killed Massimo Torini. After this, Wayne acknowledged defeat and the Sicilian Mafia left Liberty City. When his nephew began to insult him after their final confrontation, he simply replied, "Every dog has his day". Three years later Salvatore Leone would, in fact, be killed by Claude. AFRICAN-AMERICAN GANGS Southside Hoods
The Southside Hoods are a prominent African-American gang in Shoreside Vale, Liberty City. They are comprised of the Red Jacks and Purple Nines, both rival gangs. The latter is known to have supplied the SPANK drug on local streets. The Red Jacks is a small scale street gang headed by D-Ice . Most of their missions provided for Claude involve crippling Purple Nines activities. Eventually, the Purple Nines would be extinct, with their remaining members defeated in a mêlée battle. Southside Hoods members wear jackets of either red or purple, depending on which side they belong to, but are not seen attacking each other on the streets. Stranger yet, when a Red Jack is attacked, any nearby Purple Nines will rush to assist the gang member who is being assaulted. The same holds true in reverse. Grove Street Families
The Grove Street Families ("Families" or "GSF" for short) are a gang in Los Santos, San Andreas, which belongs in the side of . As far as street gangs in the game go, the GSF are considered to be a "good" gang, since they are against illegal drugs being sold on their turf, despite the numerous other crimes and violent acts they take part in, and key members being fond of marijuana use. The Grove Street Families are headed by . Sweet is adamantly anti-narcotic, but Smoke believes the GSF have fallen from power because of Sweet's refusal to have the gang sell drugs. Their unwillingness to enter the drugs trade has dragged the Grove Street Families out of prominence in recent years. This coupled with the deaths of OGs such as Tony, Big Devil, and Little Devil, has led to the sorry state of the GSF upon CJ's return from Liberty City. There are at least two other distinct sets of the Families: the Temple Drive Families and the Seville Boulevard Families, both of which were originally one with the Grove Street Families, but split up from the GSF during the five years of Carl's absence. The sets are not on good terms with each other, which is why the gang has weakened. Carl will occasionally make reference to "Orange Grove Families" and OGF (also seen as graffiti). It is possible that the Orange Grove Families is, or was, the true name of the gang, with the Grove Street Families just being the dominant set within the gang (as proved by Ryder regarding the TDF and SBF: "They used to be Grove Streets."). The rivalry between the sets mainly had to do with Grove Street's opposition to drug dealing, but later, the Families were united into one gang. Grove Street member Carl Johnson was involved in a brief conflict with the Seville Boulevard Families, who were trying to pin Sweet while he was visiting his girlfriend in Seville. Following this incident, Carl and Sweet Johnson called for an end to "green on green" conflicts. While Carl's return helped revive the GSF to an extent, Ryder and Smoke's betrayal of the gang, coupled with an ambush on Sweet and other high-ranking members by the rival Ballas gang and the police, destroyed much of the gang's influence in the city; this led to the Ballas and Los Santos Vagos seizing all of GSF's turf in Los Santos. Sweet was imprisoned, and Carl was forced to continue working for CRASH, consisting of a corrupted group of police officers. However, a court trial against CRASH, and Sweet's release from prison, courtesy of , allowed the gang to rise again and regain some of their lost turf from the Ballas and Vagos. GSF members are initially equipped with Knives , 9 mm pistols and Tec-9 mini- Submachine Gun s. As they gain influence however, certain members upgrade to Desert Eagle s and MP5 's. GSF members are always seen dressed in green clothing usually consisting of basketball jerseys or plaid shirts. Rumours circulate that the Grove Street Families represent the Bloods at the present day. Green is the colour used distinctively by the Lime Street Piru, a Bloods set in Los Angeles . The word "Families" in the names of GSF sets is a feature shared by a number of Bloods sets too, and GSF gang members often call one another "dawg", a term favoured by Bloods. Not much else points to the Grove Street Families being related to the Bloods, but some still believe they are represented. Ballas
The Ballas are the GSF's primary enemy, having been around since the 1970s. They are involved in drug dealing, gang banging, prostitution, arms dealing, vandalism, degeneracy, but mainly, the cocaine trade. The Ballas are rivals with the Families and the Aztecas, and have have ties with the Los Santos Vagos, the San Fierro Rifa, and the Loco Syndicate for narcotics, and the Russian Mafia for weapons. The Ballas have also collaborated with CRASH. In addition, Big Smoke and Ryder, two Grove Street OGs, are revealed to be working for the Ballas. The Ballas briefly controlled the streets of Los Santos with the Vagos after Grove Street leader Sweet Johnson was arrested, controlling the influence of the Families with crack cocaine. The Ballas' crack factory was destroyed by Carl Johnson, and Ballas influence in Los Santos diminished. There are five known sets of Ballas. The Front Yard Ballas, The Rollin' Heights Ballas and the Kilo Trays all feature in the game missions storyline. The Temple Drive Ballas are known from their graffiti found dotted around Los Santos. The Ballas pack 9 mm's and MAC-10 mini-SMG's, and may be recognizable with a piece of their street attire in purple or dark denim blue color. Rumours circulate that the Ballas are based on real life street gangs. Some have claimed that the purple is close to red, thus making the Ballas look similar to Bloods. However, other claim that the Ballas look much like an infamous real life streetgang from Los Angeles called the Grape Street Watts Crips, who are well known for their purple (and blue) attire, and is one of the sets of the Crips , a rival gang of the Bloods. Ballas can sometimes be heard to call one another "cuzz", which is a familiar term used by Crips, and the names of the Ballas sets are also closer to known Crips sets than to Blood sets. ASIAN GANGS Liberty City Triads
The Liberty City Triad is a gang of East Asia n origin based in Portland Island, Liberty City. Though the Triad appear to be a petty street gang, it is evident that they are beginning to dabble in organized crime; including extortion, most notably that of Mr. Wong's Laundrette , which had been the source of several problems for the Leone Mafia, as well as pushing drugs for the Columbian Cartel via "Chunky" Lee Chong and his Chinatown noodles stand. They also own The Turtle's Head Fish Factory in Callahan Point, Portland. An all-out war between the Triads and the Leones erupted as the Triads attempted to muscle in on Leone businesses in Chinatown. The war concluded after three of the Triad warlords were assassinated and their fish factory was destroyed by a Mafia truck bomb. Triad members carry Baseball Bat s and pistols, and wear blue boiler suits and black bandanas. In ''Liberty City Stories'', they wear blue tracksuits with their gang logo on the back and wear black sunglasses. San Fierro Triads
The San Fierro Triads are large gangs originating from Hong Kong, who have since moved to San Fierro. There are three Triad factions in San Fierro consisting of a set hierarchy with small sets answering to larger sets; The Blood Feather Triad, which would later be slaughtered by the Da Nang Boys, The Red Gecko Tong led by and answers to The Red Gecko Tong. The sets of the SF Triads are heavily involved in joint operations and avoid conflict between the Triad factions, with The Mountain Cloud Boys establishing an alliance with The Red Gecko Tong, The SF Triads are also allied with the Families, and are rivals with the Italian Mafia, the Da Nang Boys, and the Loco Syndicate. There is no known connection between the San Fierro Triads and the Liberty City Triads. In addition to their base of operation in San Fierro, the SF Triads also own and operate a casino hotel called The Four Dragons on the Las Venturas Strip, which is also part-owned by the Families. Because of intense Mafia pressure in the city, the Chinese Triads try to flex their muscles to show the Mafia that they can hold their own on The Strip. While the SF Triad's prime business is gambling, Woozie has shown motivations towards robbery and street racing. Carl Johnson, having been exiled from Los Santos after the fall of the Grove Street Families, is asked to work for Wu Zi Mu's gang. In return, the Triads aid Carl in robbing Caligula's Casino and seizing Madd Dogg's mansion from a drug dealer. SF Triad members don all-black suits. They also carry 9 mm pistols, MAC-10's and AK-47 s. Liberty City Yakuza
The Yakuza is the only significant gang that aids Claude throughout all of ''Grand Theft Auto III''. Initially, Claude was invited by Yakuza heads and siblings Asuka Kasen and Kenji Kasen to work for their organization. While working for Donald Love , however, Claude frames the Columbian Cartel for the assassination of Kenji, resulting in a war between the Yakuza and the Cartel. Angered by the death of her brother, Asuka vowed to "hunt down" the Colombian Cartel with the help of Claude, while capturing and torturing Cartel member Miguel for information. In the process, the Yakuza also intruded Fort Staunton, a Cartel turf. In ''Liberty City Stories'', the Yakuza are led by . Yakuza members carry pistols and Uzis, and wear colorful suits and jewelry. Russian Mafia
The Russia n Mafia only appear in ''San Andreas'' for a short time, wearing black suits with white ties, are seen carrying MP5's and AK-47's. Though they have no permanent stake in San Andreas, they have claimed the Atrium as a temporary turf. They are also believed to be supplying weapons to the Ballas in exchange for vehicles. Da Nang Boys
The Da Nang Boys (named after the Vietnam region and city of Da Nang ) is a Vietnamese street gang based in San Fierro, preparing a full move to the US. Extremely violent, with major interests in protection, narcotics and human trafficking, they control the dockland/bay area in Easter Basin and possibly a freight ship anchored out in San Fierro bay, often causing disturbance. The Da Nang Boys were also at war with local Triad gangs. The Da Nang Boys are armed with 9 mm pistols and MAC-10's. They are seen wearing either street attire (in the form of t-shirts and pants), or traditional robes. HISPANIC GANGS Colombian Cartel
The Colombia n Cartel is a Hispanic gang and the main group of antagonists in ''GTA III''. They are extremely well armed, mostly with Uzis and AK-47's, and are primarily collaborating with Catalina and Miguel to produce and supply the SPANK drug in Liberty City. It is suggested by Liberty City police records that the Columbian Cartel may be using local airport and harbor freight as a front to smuggle the SPANK drug into Liberty City, although they haven't yet to thoroughly prove this. They wear Hawaiian shirts, combat pants, hats resembling Akubra s and boots. Diablos
The Diablos is a Puerto Rican gang. They are a fairly small gang, and not very well armed, with only baseball bats and occasional 9mms. The leader of the Diablos is El Burro . The only activities known to be associated with the Diablos are street violence and pornography. Diablo members are seen wearing dark blue jackets donning the Diablos gang logo (a yellow crown) at the back, long pants and bandanas. Diaz's gang
Diaz's gang was a Vice City-based Colombian drug cartel led by and Victor) forcing Tommy to leave behind (and lose) both the money and narcotic merchandise as he fled the scene. Tommy Vercetti was given the opportunity to work for Ricardo, while Lance Vance infiltrated the gang under a different name. As Tommy continued to work for Ricardo and planned for a takeover of Ricardo's empire, Lance attempted the overthrow prematurely, failing to kill Ricardo and resulting in his capture and torture by the gang, before Tommy rushed to the rescue. This event forced the two to raid the Diaz Mansion and kill Ricardo before Ricardo "takes them out", killing several Diaz gang members on the way. The killing of Ricardo effectively ended the Diaz gang's reign in the city as Ricardo's mansion was seized, and there were no longer any Diaz gang members seen anywhere in the city or storyline. Diaz gang members were mostly seen in maroon shirts or Hawaiian shirts, and long light-colored pants. They were armed with 9 mm pistols. Cubans
The , are perpetual enemies of the Haitian gang. Tommy Vercetti fought in the gang war between these two groups, but the Cubans would eventually remain on Vercetti's side. The Cubans are also involved in the cocaine trade. Cuban gang members are either seen wearing white sleeveless shirts, red bandanas and jeans, or a Fedora hat, light yellow shirts and black pants. They are armed with 9 mm pistols. Los Santos Vagos
The Los Santos Vagos (literally translated from Spanish to English as "The Lazy Saints") is a Mexican gang found to be in league with the Ballas. The Los Santos Vagos, like the Ballas, pose a threat to CJ when they see him and they can engage in gang wars. The Vagos and the Families have intense rivalry but their biggest rivals of all are their Mexican counterparts, the Varrios Los Aztecas. After CJ is exiled from Los Santos, the Vagos took away majority of the Aztecas's territories. They were once known to be rivals of the San Fierro Rifa, but have come into good terms with them due to drug trafficking. Heavily involved in drug trade, they had a major involvement in Big Smoke's cocaine business. One of their leaders, Big Poppa, even gained the house of rapper Madd Dogg when he was unable to pay off his debt. The Vagos have 9 mm's and MAC-10's, and are seen wearing yellow bandanas. Rumors circulate that the Los Santos Vagos represent the Latin Kings at the present day. Yellow is the colour used distinctively by the Latin Kings, street gang in Chicago. Most of the Kings are Hispanic. Not much else points to the Los Santos Vagos being related to the Latin Kings, but some still believe they are represented. Varrios Los Aztecas
Significantly less prominent than the Vagos, the Varrios Los Aztecas are a Mexican gang and 's native gang. There are some who claim they have a fragile friendship with the Grove Street Families due to Cesar dating and intending to marry Kendl, but this is at best speculative. Indeed, Varrios will still challenge Carl Johnson if they see him on the streets, calling out insults against the Grove Street Families gang and sometimes attacking with fists or weapons. They will also attack GSF members on sight, and vice versa. The Varrios are rivals with the Vagos and the Rifa, and are also believed to be on bad terms with the Ballas. The Varrios are traditionally anti-narcotics, with heavy involvement in gun running and street violence, but are slowly diminishing. Gang veterans include Cesar Vialpando, Sunny, Gal, Jose and Hazer. They only have a few territories compared to other gangs, and these are clustered around the south-western areas of East-side Los Santos. Varrios Los Aztecas members are mostly seen wearing turquoise bandanas and sunglasses. They also carry 9 mm pistols and sometimes MAC-10s. San Fierro Rifa
The Rifa is the sole Mexican gang based in San Fierro, later seen to be collaborating with the Ballas and Vagos in the narcotics business. The Rifa also appear to work as thugs for the Loco Syndicate, possibly because Rifa leader is among the members of the Loco Syndicate. The Rifa also had a dislike towards Mexican gangs in Los Santos, until they joined the narcotics business linked to the Los Santos Vagos. They appear to be rather neutral with the local Triads and the Da Nang Boys. Although the Rifa are known for various clashes with GSF member Carl Johnson, they are normally not hostile towards the Families. They are the least threatening and violent on the streets, pertaining to when the player attacks them, they usually run. Rifa members are mostly recognizable with their light blue bandanas or white hats, and carry 9 mm pistols. AFRO-CARIBBEAN GANGS Uptown Yardie s
The Yardies are a Jamaica n gang, led by King Courtney and Queen Lizzy. They are secretly in league with the Colombian Cartel and are known to push SPANK onto Staunton Island. Yardie members are seen with dreadlocks and wear ex-army attire. Yardies carry either baseball bats or 9 mm pistols. Haiti ans
Poorer and weaker than the Cubans, the Haitian gang, led by , use less-than-honest tactics in their war against the Cubans. They turn against Vercetti after he works for Poulet and returns to Little Haiti, despite a warning by Poulet not to do so. The Haitian gang had also owned and run a cocaine factory until it was destroyed by Vercetti and Cubans gang members. Haitian gang members are seen wearing either blue shirts (reading ''RELAX''), white pants and baseball caps, or sky blue sleeveless shirts, jeans and bandanas, while occasionally carrying 9 mm pistols. OTHER GANGS Bikers
Simply put, "the biggest family of misfits, outcasts and badasses." as quoted by their leader, , in ''Vice City''. A group of stereotypical bikers, they wear leather, have long beards and hair, wear biker attire and ride motorcycles. They are the only gang, along with the Cubans, that Tommy Vercetti joins or works for whom he is on good terms with at the end of the game (without taking it over). The Hells Angels biking gang is a likely inspiration of the gang, as there were later seen to be hired as security for a concert of the hair metal band Love Fist , a reference to The Rolling Stones ' show at Altamont , where Hells Angels were hired as security and An Angel Stabbed A Member Of The Crowd . Certain biker members may carry 9 mm pistols in ''Vice City''. In ''Liberty City Stories'', biker gangs are killed during the Avenging Angels side missions, and are featured in Maria's mission string. Golfers
The golfers (officially classified as a gang) can be found inside and around the Leaf Links Golf course. Consisting of elderly men and women in golfing attire, they aren't threatening, though they do carry Golf Club s. However, golfers may attack Vercetti if one of theirs is seen attacked by him. Golfers also carry 9 mm pistols in holster and they will draw if they can't reach Vercetti with their clubs (e.g. if Vercetti is standing on a vehicle). Security guards
Members of the Patrol Invest Group (PIG for short) patrol certain areas of Vice City, shooting with a pistol at those they believe to be troublemakers. At times, security guards become involved in 4 or 5-on-1 gun battles with the Streetwannabe's at the North Point Mall, and have even been known to open fire on army soldiers near Fort Baxter. Although their job is to protect property for the wealthy on Starfish Island, the PIG are often chased by the police. The Vice City Police Department believe that they are not a legitimate secuity business, and are believed to have used the Escobar International Airport for smuggling. Streetwannabe's
A gang of wannabe thugs that hang out around the North Point Mall and Prawn Island, but are hardly a threat to any of the other gangs in Vice City. The only highlight of their gang was being part of an aerial massacre that resulted in many of them getting killed. It is also suggested that they are involved in arms running. They are listed as the "Streetwannabe's" in the ''Vice City'' stats, but the Shark/Cobra/Dragon logo'sfags the back of their denim jackets, along with graffiti on buildings and their gang cars, has led many to call them the Sharks/Cobras/Dragons. Streetwannabe members are mostly seen wearing denim jackets, jeans and red bandanas. Certain members carry 9 mm handguns. Of interesting note is that certain unrelated "gangs" in ''Vice City'' are also listed as Streetwannabe's. This includes army soldiers and "gangs" that show up in certain missions, such as the Forellis in the final mission, the attackers in the "All Hands on Deck!" mission, and the courier and bodyguards of a counterfeiting syndicate in the "Hit the Courier" mission (It is unknown why the counterfeiting syndicate is made up of women (who aren't even dangerous, despite having heavy weaponry and pre-planned courier routes), but it is mentioned they have connections with the Triads). The Army
The most well-armed group in ''Vice City'', Vice City's army soldiers of the United States military are equipped with M4 Carbine s (which, unusually, were not fully in production or service until 1994, while the armies were depicted using them in 1986 and 1992. The only similar carbine is the Colt Commando ) and can be seen in groups surrounding the Fort Baxter Air Base, which the army guards and will open fire onto intruders, should they enter the air base without proper authority. ''Vice City'''s army are distinctive from other renditions of the army in the ''GTA'' series as they may be seen gathering and moving in groups around a specific area, similair to other gangs in the city. While the weapons wielded by the army would render intrusion into the air base moderately difficult, the player character may enter the base wearing a police uniform, preventing the army from shooting him. Like other military forces in the ''Grand Theft Auto'' series, the army are also called out in attempts to subdue the player whenever the player's wanted level reaches 6 stars. Army soldiers wear standard US military woodland camoflauge, the LC-2 ALICE harness and a patrol cap of corresponding camoflauge. Loco Syndicate
While better classified as a business joint venture between several criminals, the Loco Syndicate was a collective outfit dealing with drugs, primarily cocaine. The syndicate had its main operations based in San Fierro, and was made up of local pimp , and former Families members Ryder and Big Smoke alongside their own drug business. They're not known to have a set style of dress, and rather seemed like a well-organized alliance of drug dealing. Prior to the Syndicate's closure, business transactions in the form of transported drugs and money would be conducted on a weekly basis between San Fierro and Los Santos. After Carl Johnson killed Ryder, Jizzy B, T-Bone Mendez, and allegedly killed Mike Toreno, the Loco Syndicate was disbanded and Smoke's narcotics business became independent. Avenging Angels
Based on the real-life Guardian Angels and led by Jesus Max Sentenz, the Avenging Angels seek to clean Liberty's streets of crime their own "special" way. Their uniform resembles that of the Guardian Angels. SEE ALSO |
