List Of Vermont Numbered Highways

Standard markers for state-maintained (left) and locally maintained (right) Vermont Routes

In the U.S. State of Vermont , the Vermont Agency Of Transportation owns and maintains a network of State Highways . The vast majority of these highways are assigned Interstate Highway , U.S. Route or Vermont Route (often abbreviated '''''VT Route''''' or simply ''Route'') numbers. Certain roads maintained by local authorities, forming parts of these routes, as well as a few complete routes, are designated ''class 1 town highways''. A small number of minor state highways, typically bypassed old alignments or short connector routes, are instead assigned names and unsigned three-digit numbers beginning with 9.

Since 1995, Vermont uses one shield - a green one with the word Vermont at the top - for state-maintained routes, and a second one - a simple Circular Highway Shield - for locally maintained routes.
