This is a list of the Premier s of Quebec , Canada since Confederation ( 1867 ).

Notes:

In English, the word 'minister' comes from Old French ''ministre'', which in turn comes from the Latin ''minister'', meaning 'servant'. Because they already know a similar word when they were introduced to British political terminology, French Canadians adopted ''ministre'' as is.

French Canadians did not adopt the distinction between 'premier' (first minister of a province) and 'prime minister' (first minister of a country) as used by English Canadians. In French, both are termed ''premier ministre''.

In English-language publications from the Quebec government, the premier may be referred to as either the prime minister or the '''premier'''.
