McRae was a member of the Folk Rock band Spirit Of The West from 1988 to 1996 . She and Daniel Lapp joined the band in 1988 when Hugh MacMillan took a hiatus following the '' Labour Day '' album. When MacMillan returned, Lapp left again, but McRae stayed on as the band's fourth member. Previously, she was also a member of Bolero Lava . McRae played her final show with Spirit of the West on New Year's Eve of 1996 , and left amicably to pursue a solo career. Her debut album as a solo artist, ''Flying Jenny'', was released in 1997 . That album was produced by Colin Linden , and included guest performances from members of Blue Rodeo , The Tragically Hip and The Band , as well as Syd Straw and Gurf Morlix . In 2003 , she released her second album, ''Cryin' Out Loud'', which was credited to the band Linda McRae and Cheerful Lonesome. DISCOGRAPHY EXTERNAL LINK |
