is a
Municipality in the Norwegian
County of
Nord-Trøndelag .
The cross-country race
Flyktingerennet is arranged here every year. It is a race following the same route as the runaways did when escaping Nazi-occupied Norway for Sweden during the
Second World War .
In Norway, the municipality is mainly known for its
Bear s. Though the bear stock in Lierne is low compared to the bear stock in neighbouring
Sweden , it is a recurring problem for the sheep farmers.
Between 1915 and 1964 Lierne was divided into two municipalities, Nordli and Sørli.
