Thomas Lie-Nielsen is the CEO of Lie-Nielsen Toolworks.


HISTORY

Begun in a tiny back-yard wooden Shed on farmland near his then-home in West Rockport, Maine , Lie-Nielsen began by making reproduction Stanley No 95 Hand Plane s using improved designs and tooling from Ken Wisner for Garry Chinn's supply to Garrett Wade . The first plan was delivered to Chinn in 1981 .

The second plane Lie-Nielsen produced was a skew-angle Block Plane .

In 1988 , Lie-Nielsen moved production into an 8,000 square foot facility in Warren, Maine, the town where the company still resides today.

In the mid- 1990s , Lie-Nielsen moved the entire production to a 13,000 square foot facility.


PRODUCTS


Since the early days of selected hand planes, Lie-Nielsen now produces over 50 different models, in addition to Spokeshave s, socket Chisel s, Screwdriver s, marking and Metrology devices and Workbench hardware.

Lie-Nielsen acquired the Independence Tool Co. in 1998 , and now produces Hand Saws for its product line.
