Lewis is the name of a cat from Fairfield, Connecticut who garned mass media attention for being placed under House Arrest in March 2006 . Lewis is a five year-old Polydactyl , Domestic Longhaired Cat . Some of the Fairfield residents have accused the cat of attacking them, causing Lewis to be placed under house arrest, and his owner Ruth Cisero to be charged with reckless endangerment. Cisero is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court April 25. Cisero believes that Lewis may have been acting in self-defense, saying how "One day he came home covered in eggs because someone had egged him and another time a woman sprayed him with a hose. They have been tormenting this poor animal." The idea of a cat being placed under house arrest has garned a lot of media attention, though Lewis's 'victims', who are pushing to have the cat euthanized, are angry that most of it views the situation in a humorous light.
