From 1942 through 1953 it was called Cervecería Caracas . In the latter year, the franchise was bought by Pablo Morales and Oscar Prieto Ortiz and christened anew as Leones del Caracas. They possess 16 championship titles, the most to date in venezuelan baseball. On February 7, 2006, The Leones Del Caracas put a stop to 16 consecutive losing years by Venezuela in the Caribbean World Series by defeating The Tigres Del Licey of the Dominican Republic in one of Venezuela's best performances with a record of 6 wins and no defeats in the series. With the victory, The Leones del Caracas obtained for Venezuela its sixth caribbean championship. Its current owner, since 2001 , is the Organización Cisneros .
