Leonardo is a Census-designated Place and Unincorporated area located within Middletown Township , in Monmouth County , New Jersey . As of the United States 2000 Census , the CDP had a total population of 2,823. GEOGRAPHY Leonardo is located at 40°25'10" North, 74°3'37" West (40.419374, -74.060209). According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 1.6 Km&2 (0.6 Mi&2 ). 1.6 km&2 (0.6 mi&2) of it is land and 1.59% is water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 2,823 people, 987 households, and 753 families residing in the CDP. The Population Density was 1,758.0/km&2 (4,523.1/mi&2). There were 1,017 housing units at an average density of 633.3/km&2 (1,629.5/mi&2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.27% White , 0.53% African American , 0.25% Native American , 0.50% Asian , 0.11% Pacific Islander , 0.46% from Other Races , and 0.89% from two or more races. 4.85% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 987 households out of which 35.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.5% were Married Couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.7% were non-families. 19.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.31. In the CDP the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 8.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $64,432, and the median income for a family was $66,750. Males had a median income of $49,716 versus $30,400 for females.
