Lee Fisher




Fisher is a graduate of Oberlin College (where he has served as a college trustee) and of Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He is a member of Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. Fisher served as an Ohio State Representative from 1981 to 1982 and as an Ohio State Senator from 1982 to 1990 . He was narrowly elected Attorney General of Ohio and served in that post from 1991 to 1995 . In 1994, Fisher lost his bid for re-election as Ohio Attorney General to Republican Betty Montgomery .

In 1992 , Fisher was appointed a Presidential Elector for Ohio. In 1998 , Fisher ran for Governor of Ohio but lost to Republican Bob Taft .

Fisher's wife, Peggy Zone Fisher , was a member of the Ohio Delegation to the 2004 Democratic National Convention . While he was there, Fisher hinted that he might be interested in playing a hand in state-wide politics again. This was taken to mean that he might consider another run for the governorship in 2006 , when Bob Taft will be barred from seeking a third consecutive term. U.S. Representative Ted Strickland and State Representative Bryan Flannery are the current candidates for the Democratic nomination for governor.

On January 25 , 2006, Ted Strickland announced that he had selected Lee Fisher as his running mate for Lieutenant Governor Of Ohio .
