Lebanon Township is a Township located at the northenmost point of Hunterdon County , New Jersey . As of the United States 2000 Census , the township had a total population of 5,816. Lebanon Township is the extreme northern township of Hunterdon County. It borders on both Warren and Morris Counties. Old Lebanon Township was created in 1731. Its original borders were from the Musconetcong River all the way down to Readington Township . Out of this large township were formed the townships of Clinton and Tewksbury as well as High Bridge and Glen Gardner boroughs and Clinton Town . GEOGRAPHY According to the United States Census Bureau , the township has a total area of 82.2 Km&2 (31.7 Mi&2 ). 82.1 km&2 (31.7 mi&2) of it is land and 0.1 km&2 (0.04 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 0.13% water. Lebanon Township borders Tewksbury Township , Califon Borough , Clinton Township , High Bridge Borough , Union Township , Bethlehem Township , Glen Gardner Borough , and Hampton Borough . Lebanon Township also borders Warren County and Morris County . DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 5,816 people, 1,963 households, and 1,556 families residing in the township. The Population Density was 70.9/km&2 (183.5/mi&2). There were 2,020 housing units at an average density of 24.6/km&2 (63.7/mi&2). The racial makeup of the township was 96.97% White , 0.81% African American , 0.10% Native American , 0.93% Asian , 0.02% Pacific Islander , 0.38% from Other Races , and 0.79% from two or more races. 1.72% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,963 households out of which 38.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1% were Married Couples living together, 5.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.7% were non-families. 15.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.15. In the township the population was spread out with 25.5% under the age of 18, 5.1% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 28.7% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.1 males. The median income for a household in the township was $77,662, and the median income for a family was $86,145. Males had a median income of $58,306 versus $40,474 for females. The Per Capita Income for the township was $30,793. 2.0% of the population and 1.0% of families were below the Poverty Line . 0.0% of those under the age of 18 and 8.4% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. Federal, state and county representation Lebanon Township is in the Seventh Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 23rd Legislative District. EDUCATION Students in grades K through 8 attend the . Students in grades 9 through 12 attend Voorhees High School in Glen Gardner as part of the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District . Voorhees High School serves students from Califon Borough (67 students), Glen Gardner Borough (75 students), Hampton Borough (87 students), High Bridge Borough (217 students), Lebanon Township (404 students) and Tewksbury Township (235 students).
