Lebanon (. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 12,950. Lebanon is located in northwest Oregon, southeast of Salem . Lebanon is home to Entek International. It has 34 churches and 31 restaurants, a Super Walmart (2005), a McDonald's, and an indoor shooting range downtown. Until 2005, it contained one of the last drive-in movie theaters in Oregon. The high school mascot is the Warriors.


GEOGRAPHY

Lebanon is located at 44°31'59" North, 122°54'28" West (44.533133, -122.907799).

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 14.0 Km&2 (5.4 Mi&2 ). 13.6 km&2 (5.2 mi&2) of it is land and 0.4 km&2 (0.2 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 2.96% water.


DEMOGRAPHICS

As of the Census of 2000, there were 12,950 people, 5,078 households, and 3,442 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 952.4/km&2 (2,467.7/mi&2). There were 5,457 housing units at an average density of 401.3/km&2 (1,039.9/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 93.98% White , 0.17% African American , 1.03% Native American , 0.96% Asian , 0.08% Pacific Islander , 1.41% from Other Races , and 2.37% from two or more races. 3.69% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 5,078 households out of which 33.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.2% were Married Couples living together, 13.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 27.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.02.

In the city the population was spread out with 27.0% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $31,231, and the median income for a family was $37,818. Males had a median income of $32,448 versus $24,796 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $14,968. 15.7% of the population and 14.4% of families were below the Poverty Line . 20.8% of those under the age of 18 and 7.9% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.

LEBANON TRIVIA

Lebanon is the home of the World's Largest Strawberry Shortcake, a part of the annual Strawberry Festival that began in 1909. The Strawberry Festival includes a Junior Parade, a Grand Parade (featuring the Strawberry Royalty Court), and a carnival. It is held the first weekend of June.
