PLOT While leaving his flat in Paris for vacations, Antoine Maréchal has an accident and his 2CV is completely destroyed by Léopold Saroyan's Bentley , the pretended director of an import-export company. As a compensation, Saroyan offers Maréchal to drive his best's friend superb 1964 Cadillac Coupe De Ville from Naples , Italy to Bordeaux , with any paid expenses. For, no doubt it's a great opportunity to spend very pleasant holidays. But, Maréchal's doesn't know that, Saroyan is the godfather of a gang and that the Cadillac is filled with drugs, gold and diamonds. Therefore soon on the roads of Italy, while ignoring everything of its precious cargo and not pointing out Saroyan, who is following him with hindsight and watches over the "treasure" coveted by a rival band... COMMENTS Le ''Corniaud'' is a comic Road Movie , an enjoying trip in Italy who drives the charcaters from Paris to Rome , Naples , Pisa , the Côte D'Azur and Tuscany . Far away from the "cheap comedies", this movie benefits from rather special conditions for a French comic movie of this period: a consequent budget, nice colours, and several months to shot the movie. Even if both main actors have few common scenes, their jobs are supplementary: Bourvil plays the sucker, the emotional innocent guy while De Funès represents hypocrisy and tries to exploit Maréchal.
