Laihia (''Laihela'' in Swedish ) is a Municipality of Finland . It is located in the Province of Western Finland and is part of the Ostrobothnia Region . The municipality has a population of 7,471 ( 2003 ) and covers an area of 509.40 Km&2 of which 2.06 km&2 is water. The Population Density is 14.7 inhabitants per km&2. Laihians are commonly joked about due to their alleged minginess. Because of this Laihia is called Scotland of Finland. The municipality is unilingually Finnish . |
