Kyra Sedgwick (b. August 19 , 1965 ) is an American Actress who was born in New York City , New York to a father of English descent and a Jewish mother. She is the great-granddaughter of Endicott Peabody, the founder of Groton School . A graduate of USC , Kyra made her debut on the television show '' Another World '' at the age of 16. She and her husband, Kevin Bacon , live in Connecticut . They were married September 3 , 1988 and have two children, Travis and Sosie Ruth . However, Kyra, like her husband, is not fond of Los Angeles , but is in California for her TV series '' The Closer ''. Sedgwick possesses a Bacon Number of 1, as she is one degree away from her husband Kevin Bacon via the 2005 movie '' Loverboy ''. She is a cousin of Andy Warhol superstar, Edie Sedgwick .
