Information About

King Tee

the United States west coast's Rap pioneers. His first tracks were produced by
The Unknown DJ who also produced Ice T 's earliest Gangster Rap tracks. He also worked with other producers such as DJ Pooh , Marley Marl , DJ Broadway , Thayad , SLJ . Bilal Bashir , and E-Swift . Although he discovered and was a founding member of the Tha Alkaholiks , who became quite popular, even working together with The Neptunes , Tee's own career didn't fare quite so well. He was briefly signed to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records , but was eventually dropped. Nevertheless, his most recent album ''Thy Kingdom Come'' included production by Dr. Dre as well as guest appearances by Dre, Ice T, Too Short and many others. Those that have followed "Gangster Rap" since its roots will credit King Tee with being one of the leading founders helping (although not main stream) "gangster rap" build credibility and eventually helping to open doors for some of today's biggest names in Hip-Hop. He is also cited as being one of the biggest inspirations for fanatically popular East Coast rapper The Notorious BIG , whose early style bore a striking resemblance to that of King T.
