King College is a four-year Christian college located in Bristol, Tennessee . The college was founded in 1867 and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church USA . The college offers several undergraduate majors, along with concentrations such as Business and Religion . The Center for Graduate and Professional Studies offers the MBA.


HISTORY

In April 1866 the Holston Presbytery assembled at the old Pleasant Grove Church to establish a Christian college. The college was built on land donated by Rev. James King. The college is named in honor of Rev. King. In August 1867 the first classes were offered.

By the early 1900s the college had outgrown its campus. Isaac Anderson, the grandson of James King, offered 40 acres of land on a hillside east of Bristol. The college moved to its present location in 1917 .

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accredited King's academic program in 1947 .


DORMITORIES

Hyde Hall is the newest resident hall. It has the capacity to house 33 women. Residents are chosen based on GPA and a history of positive commitment to uphold college policies. Four suite-mates each share semi-private bathrooms. It is centrally air conditioned and has modern amenities and facilities.

Liston Hall is the lone men's resident hall. It can house 185 men over three floors. Liston has laundry facilities, a guest room, and two lounges. The lowest level contains suites for upperclassmen. There is no air conditioning in this dormitory.

Lower Liston Hall houses 50 women. Lower Liston is located on the two floors below the men's section of Liston Hall. The halls are separated by alarmed doors which are open during visitation times.

Mitchell Hall had the capacity to house 91 students. It is built in a townhouse style and contains separate men's and women's units. Each unit has a television lounge and laundry facility.

Parks Hall is a women's dormitory which can house 95 women. Its features include a guest room, formal parlor, a lobby with a large screen television, and a laundry facility.

All dormitory rooms are equipped with high-speed internet access.

Layout

The King College campus is located approximately 1.7 miles from downtown Bristol, Tennessee. The campus area is made up of 135 wooded acres. All main buildings on campus are brick and of Georgian-style architecture.
