Kids in America is a 1981 Song performed by Kim Wilde . It was written by Ricky Wilde and Marty Wilde . It appears on her 1981 debut album, ''Kim Wilde'' and was also released as her debut single. It reached number two in the UK singles charts.

The B-side of the single was her song "Tuning in tuning on".

A remix of the song appeared in 1994 as the third single taken from the Compilation Album ''The Singles Collection 1981-1993''. There was also a remix included on the 2001 Compilation '' The Very Best Of Kim Wilde ''.

The song was featured in an American Idol (Season 5) Ford commercial. The top 7 contestants were regarded as the "kids in America" and brought music advertisements to life. Taylor Hicks and Elliott Yamin were on 8 inch x 11 inch paper fliers; and Kellie Pickler , Chris Daughtry , Katharine McPhee , Paris Bennett and Ace Young were on the billboards.
