Kempner, which serves grades 9 through 12, is a part of the
Fort Bend Independent School District .
Kempner was established in 1988 and was named after
Issac Herbert Kempner , the founder of
Imperial Sugar , through which the city of
Sugar Land received its name.
As of the 2004-2005 school year, Kempner housed 2556 students, consisting of 720 freshmen, 635 sophomores, 609 juniors, and 592 seniors. At one point, this school housed over 3000 students. This site also houses a 750 seat auditorium, and a 55.88 acre lot of pecan trees. The first graduating class of Kempner High School was the class of 1990.
