Jurong East Bus Interchange (, Singapore. An open-air single-level bus terminal, it is directly connected to the adjacent Jurong East MRT Station . As it is located in the Jurong East Regional Centre , the interchange serves as an important bus transport node for the western part of Singapore alongside the Woodlands Regional Bus Interchange in the north, and the Tampines Bus Interchange in the east. The current interchange was built in the 1980s, which resulted in most bus services terminating at the Teban Gardens Terminal being re-routed to this interchange. For years, however, the interchange has had a rather low level of passenger flow compared to the larger Boon Lay Bus Interchange serving Jurong West New Town , the Jurong Industrial Estate , as well as institutions in the west including the Nanyang Technological University . With the Urban Redevelopment Authority 's (URA) plans to upgrade Jurong East town centre into a regional centre, however, there are plans to upgrade the interchange as a regional terminal. When the regional centre is developed, the interchange will be reconstructed underneath the MRT tracks to maximise land use, freeing up land for more intensive redevelopment. SERVICES All bus services that terminate at Jurong East bus interchange, with the exception of Jurong Island services, are operated by SBS Transit .
