''Jurassic Park'' was a video game for the SNES / Super Famicom based on the Book by Michael Crichton . It was developed by Ocean Software and released in 1993 . The player views everything from the top-down view for most of the game, but inside buildings he or she experiences the game from the first person view, arguably making it an early First-person Shooter . In the game the player controls Alan Grant, and the objective is to complete certain tasks in order, including clearing out a raptor nest and turning the generator on in a utility shed so you can turn the power on, for opening and closing gates and the like. Communication ports set up around the island allow characters in the game to communicate with each other. The game's soundtrack has various music that fits the setting (none are from the movie). The game typically takes 5-7 hours to complete; as it lacks a way to save the game, players have to play through the entire game in one sitting.

Note that other games named ''Jurassic Park'' appeared on the NES , Game Boy , Sega Genesis , Game Gear , DOS , and the Commodore Amiga , different games from one another. The NES and Game Boy versions were based on the same gameplay and map data as the SNES version, but lacked the 3D interiors. All versions were developed and published by Ocean Software, except for the Sega Genesis version.
