Newton's 1980s hits include " Angel Of The Morning " (originally charted by Merilee Rush in 1968 and written by Chip Taylor ), " Queen Of Hearts ", "The Sweetest Thing", " Love's Been A Little Bit Hard On Me ", and "Break It to Me Gently" (an early hit for Brenda Lee ).
