Information About

Judith Halberstam

Her work has focused on the question of Female Masculinity . Her book '' Female Masculinity '' drew some tensions from various academic circles. Some queer scholars have mistaken her work to be reinforcing Heterosexuality and the notion of "femaleness." However, her work is groundbreaking in queer theory in its power to displace the embeddedness of masculinity in the male domain. Its queering lies in the embodiment of the "masculine female," who calls into question any sense of naturalness that the male body may seem to embody.

Her most recent work, '''', looks at queer subculture and what it means to imagine an idea of time and space that is ultimately displaced from normative notion of heterosexual-family-oriented time and space.

Judith "Jack" Halberstam has been one of the most successful promoters of Drag King -ing.
