  • Korea was named ''Joseon'' in the Korean language during the Joseon Dynasty

  • Korea Under Japanese Rule was named ''Joseon'' (or more accurately, the Japanese version ''Chōsen'').

  • North Korea today refers to Korea as a whole, or sometimes just North Korea, as ''Chosŏn'' in the Korean language.
