He then drove in the Indianapolis 500 only from 1990 to 1994. In 1996 he joined the new Indy Racing League and drove in all 3 races of the first season, finishing a disappointing 15th in points. In 1998 he won a race at Texas Motor Speedway and finsihed a IRL career best 11th in points. In his 7 Indy 500 starts he has a best finish of 7th in 1998. He made his last IRL start in 1999 and retired from racing after failing to qualify for the 2001 Indy 500. |
