Born in Cumberland County, North Carolina , Tyson earned a degree in English and education from the University Of North Carolina At Wilmington ; he later earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Campbell University in 1979 . After working as a corporate real estate attorney from 1980 to 1993 , Tyson entered private practice. He also joined law faculty of Campbell University in 1987 . In 2001 , Tyson was named to the state Court of Appeals. He is married and has four children. In 2004 , Tyson sought a seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court , but was defeated by incumbent Justice Sarah Parker in the Statewide Judicial Elections . EXTERNAL LINK |
