The fourth son of William Keith, 5th Earl Marischal , he held Dunnottar Castle against Cromwell , and preserved the Regalia in 1650. He was created Knight Marischal of Scotland at the Restoration and was created Earl Of Kintore along with the subsidiary title of Lord Keith of Inverurie and Keith Hall and a Privy Councillor in 1677. |
