Johannes Althusius





EARLY LIFE


Johannes Althusius was born in the village of Diedenshausen in Wittgenstein in Schulze Haus, in Nordrhein-Westfalen ( North Rhine Westphalia ). His fathers name is Hans Althaus. The County of Wittgenstein was Calvinist , the Counts having accepted the Reformed articles of faith.


EDUCATION AND CAREER

Johannes Althusius received his doctorate in civil and ecclesiastical law at Basle in 1586 and became a teacher of law at the Reformed Academy at Herborn . In 1603 , he published '' Politica Methodice Digesta '' (final revision 1614 ). The next year, he was offered and accepted a position as municipal magistrate of Emden in East Friesland ( Ostfriesland ) in north central Germany, (closely allied culturally with Friesland in the Netherlands ), where he lived until his death.
