Information About

Joe Wood

Born. October 13, 1977
St. Louis, Missouri.
American Regional Artist/Author

Joe Wood is considered to be the innovator behind the modern art movement known as Futuro-Regionalism. Mixing Futurism of the mid-twentieth century with the rythmic composition of American artists such as Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood--known as the "Regionalist school," the artist combined elements with street graffiti art in the early 1990's and began work on a synthesized style of art. Wood is also the creator and President of Luna Studios Inc., a midwestern art studio that focuses on African-American Art and modern regionalist art. Wood was also the author of "Ugly Water" (2005.) This narrative about the 1890 lynching of John Buckner shed new light on contemporary revisionist Black American History issues. Wood is also a noted lecturer on US foreign policy.
