Jet2.com is a Low-cost Airline based in Leeds , England . It operates services to domestic and European destinations. Its main base is Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBA), with hubs at Manchester International Airport (MAN), Belfast International Airport (BFS) and Newcastle Airport (NCL).


HISTORY

The airline was established in ). In September 2005, Jet2.com launched flights from a further base at Newcastle Airport . In November 2005, Jet2.com announced a new base at Blackpool .

In early 2006 Dart Group put all it's aviation divisions in one brand: Jet2.com. Since then Jet2.com also operates the contract-charter and freight flights which were formerly operated by Channel Express . The low cost airline now also operate the contract-charter and freight flights, and employs around 900 people.

Unlike many other low cost carriers, Jet2.com tend to use principal airports such as Marco Polo International Airport in Venice and Charles De Gaulle International Airport in Paris. Like other low-cost carriers, tickets may only be booked over the Internet or by Telephone . Seats are allocated at check in, on a first come first served basis.

In April 2006 Jet2.com named one of its aircraft after BBC Radio 1 presenter Jo Whiley , to offer the company's support in the campaign to name Blackpool Airport Jo Whiley International Airport.
