Jesse Burkett




Jesse Cail Burkett ( December 4 , 1868 - May 27 , 1953 ), nicknamed "The Crab", was a Major League Baseball player at the turn of the 20th century.

Burkett played from 1890 to 1905 , predominantly as an Outfielder , and had an accomplished hitting career, smacking 200 hits in a season six times and batting over .400 three times.

Burkett was elected into the Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1946 . He became the first West Virginian elected to Hall of Fame.
