During the investigation for Operation Tennessee Waltz it was announced that Miller had accepted $1000 cash from a person claiming to represent what later proved to be a bogus Recycling company operated as a front by the FBI , but was not charged with breaking any laws as he subsequently reported this amount as a cash campaign contribution. Miller has served a total of three terms in the state senate; he previously announced his intention to retire after the end of his second term in 2002 but subsequently reconsidered and was again reelected.
