The Liberty was nominated for the '' North American Truck Of The Year '' award for 2002 .

With the arrival of the new Jeep Compact SUV s Compass and Patriot for 2007 , a 2008 Liberty is expected to grow considerably and become a Mid-size Crossover SUV , with competitors such as the Toyota Highlander , Nissan Murano and Ford Edge .
